Wahiawa (Hawaiian: Wahiawā) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Honolulu County, Hawaii, United States, on the island of Oahu. It is located in the Wahiawa District, on the plateau or "central valley" between the two volcanic mountains that comprise the island. In Hawaiian, wahi a wā means "place of noise", perhaps a reference to the fact that heavy surf on the North Shore could be heard from here, or to the sounds of the ancient military training exercises conducted on these plains. The population was 17,821 at the 2010 census.

I was so excited about this visit to the Dong Yang Inn in Wahiawa town because the photos taken of their food looked great! I've been slowly introduced to a number of Korean dishes and was really excited about trying their spicy beef soup (yookaejang).Watching everyone else being served their platters of Meat Chun or BBQ Meat made me even more anxious! Finally, my soup arrived, which I ordered "spicy hot", and it was a sea of red happiness...until I took my first few sips of their soup. I was disappointed, expecting a parade of flavors to erupt in my mouth, but ended up having to add more salt to add flavor to a pretty bland soup base that seemed to have maybe some beef broth and maybe some veggies...not what I had expected. The four star rating is because of speed of service, reasonable prices, and quantity of foods in your order. I would go back but to try other dishes, not the soup.
Good Korean food, but not the best in Wahiawa. They should serve fly swatters with the food.

Make sure to check under the foil in the bottom of your styrofoam tray before tossing it. There are usually 2 pieces of tempura like pieces under there. If you do take out you wikl get a clear plastic container or rice and a smaller container of marinated radish. My husband prefers to order from here instead of the other korean restaurant a few doors down. If you dine in you get tastier side dishes than the typical kim chee, bean sprouts and cabbage.
When in North Shore, you just have to eat off the food trucks...its a must! There are so many choices and as I was driving down the main road, I saw the Korean BBQ truck. I turned around and had to give it a try. The aromas are amazing, coming from this truck. It took some time, but I chose the Bulgogi Tacos. Great decision on my part! The flavours are incredible and I couldn't stop eating. I also ordered the Sunset Beach Smoothie. I am sure this is their best seller...yummy!Don't let the minimal number of reviews, or ranking keep you away from this truck. It will surprise you! I have reviewed many food trucks and this one did surprise me, in the most pleasant way.
