Kāneʻohe is a census-designated place (CDP) included in the City and County of Honolulu and located in Hawaiʻi state District of Koʻolaupoko on the island of Oʻahu. In the Hawaiian language, kāne ʻohe means "bamboo man". According to an ancient Hawaiian story a local woman compared her husband's cruelty to the sharp edge of cutting bamboo; thus the place was named Kāneʻohe or "Bamboo man". The population was 34,597 at the 2010 census. Kāneʻohe is the largest of several communities along Kāneʻohe Bay and one of the two largest residential communities on the windward side of Oʻahu (the other is Kailua). The commercial center of the town is spread mostly along Kamehameha Highway.

If you are at Windward Mall in Kaneohe, and have a "hankering" for Korean food...try this place. The food is freshly prepared so there is a little bit of a wait but it is worth it. They also offer Brown Rice as an option and have a lot off veggies to choose from for your sides. The Spicy Pork is my favorite but hubby always gets Meat Jun which he says is delish! They also offer a $6.00 plate which is sooooo worth it! The portion is decent and you get two sides to choose from in addition to your rice. A definite must try if you're at the Mall....

I recently went home and had a fantastic lunch at Chun's. Same decor, same sign out front, same wonderfu,l wonderful food that they've had for years. This place is one of a dying breed. A true mom and pop establishment with hard-working proprietors that focus on great food, but not really interested in the decor or ambiance. The meat-jun is the most tender you will find. All meals are served with assorted Korean condiments, miso soup, and generous portions. This is cooked to order food, so if you want fast, you'll have to settle for lower quality and flavor somewhere else. The place is clean and service is personable.
Poor quality. Small place in retail plaza. Maybe I don't like Korean food. Limited selections. The best thing there was the soft drinks. Bathrooms not near restaurant. Did not see any meal the 5 of us got that I would order again.
It isn't fancy, that's not what this is about. Good food, that's what this is about. Kalbe is my favorite then you get to choose your sides.. I love the egg something or other.. the potatoes are delicious.. I've heard the kimche is delicious. You can choose from the items behind the glass, double up or try something new. You can eat in the restaurant or take it to the park, beach, or down the street.. Stop here and try this little gem, you will be glad you did!
SikDoRak II is an all-you-can-eat 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant, new to Kane'ohe. Upon entering we were greeted by an obnoxious sign on the entry wall warning that we had only 90 minutes in which to order, dine and depart. That was followed by another obnoxious sign admonishing us not to order more food than we could consume, or else we would be subject to a surcharge. My dining companion and I felt offended and almost walked out at that point. But we were hungry, and we doubted we would violate either of the prominently-displayed "rules, " so we chose to be seated anyway. We were mostly glad that we did!We decided that for our initial visit we should order "standard" Korean BBQ favorites so that we would have a basis for comparison with the many other Korean restaurants in the Kane'ohe area. I ordered the kalbi plate. The ribs were the best I have ever enjoyed in Hawai'i -- juicy, thicker than usual, fairly tender (for rib meat on the bone), well-seasoned, and no "liquid smoke" so far as I could tell. I was very happy and surprised by the step-up in quality as compared with other local Korean restaurants such as Yoonyson, Kim Chee 2, Tasty Korean, and Yoonies. The side dishes -- cabbage kimchee, cucumber kimchee, bean sprouts, and what I think were rice noodles -- all were superb in flavor and texture. The rice bowl was warm, fragrant, and not overly sticky. My dining companion ordered the Bulgoki plate. The sauteed paper-thin meat was perfectly cooked, very tender, and well-seasoned -- but too sweet for our tastes. (That may just be the nature of bulgoki, but this verion was over the edge, in our opinions.) She also praised the wonderful side dishes, noting that we could hear each others' "crunch" sounds when we chewed the perfectly-prepared pickled cucumber kimchee. The negativity of SikDoRak II's offensive warning signs were almost counterbalanced by the friendly, efficient, smiling service from our two servers. The unexpectedly good food preparation ultimately prevailed over the rude signs. I will be back to try more of this restaurant's offerings.

The lunch and dinner menus are different. During lunch they serve Korean plate lunches like Kalbi, BBQ chicken and meat jun to name a few. The portions are huge and the food is really good. The BBQ chicken was some of the best I have ever had. At night they do hot pots. Everything is in color coded plates (like Genki Sushi) This can add up quickly but it's worth it. BYOB. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. The place is renovated and clean. Go check it out.

We like to stay in Kaneohe for many reasons, but mostly because it's not Waikiki and it's close to Kailua Beach and Awainui Marsh. A long-time friend of ours who lived in Kaneohe said we'd probably enjoy the food at Kim Chee. Unlike other restaurants that come and go, Kim Chee has been serving the people of Kaneohe for over 20 years. The food is basic Korean food, nothing fancy but very well cooked and tasty, for a reasonable price. We ordered BBQ'd beef and Vegetable Tempura, each accompanied by a generous scoop of white rice and pickled Korean vegetables. The beef was well seasoned and grilled just right. The vegetable tempura was crispy and filled with a variety of vegetables, accompanied by a light dipping sauce. We are looking forward to returning to Kim Chee.
