Things to do in Yonezawa
I was walking around looking for a place to eat dinner close to the train station. No English menu. They have seating at a counter and a tatami area. They serve wine only by the bottle. I had an excellent meal of Yonezawa beef dinner set.

上杉神社を参拝してからこちらに伺いました。庭も広く、ゆったりとした設えの中で米沢牛のステーキを美味しく頂きました。価格は米沢牛となると安くはありませんが、他と比較して高いということはありません。

A meal can be enjoyed while looking at a building of historical tangible cultural properties and a traditional Japanese garden. Offered dishes are sukiyaki with Yonezawa beef, beef and vegetables cooked in broth, a steak and Japanese traditional tea cerem
The beef steak is just great! Not cheap, but it worth the price. Yonezawa beef has become famous as this restaurant started offering it, it is said. Next time I would try either sukiyaki or shabu-shabu, or both!

Tokiwa” of Yonezawa Beef(Wagyu・和牛) Introducing the Delicacy of Yonezawa Beef(Wagyu・和牛) for One hundred and twenty-one years Since 1894 Tokiwa is the oldest beef shop in Yonezawa. Our first owner named the shop for good luck – Tokiwa means “the dragon gen
The lady at the sake store recommended this store to buy beef. after reading that the store has been around for 100 years, we figure we'd try the restaurant also.Between the 4 of us, we triedshabu2 - tokusen and matsu. we actually prefer the slightly less pricey matsu. yakiniku - some bites were perfection, but some were a bit tough.rump steak - a waste since you cant really taste the yonezawa beef.definitely shabu2 was the best dish amongst all.the chewy mochi dessert was also a highlight.we werent able to buy any beef here however as they only had sliced beef. Better beef buying experience at Ohki and Beko right across from the train station.

Between the parking lot and the Uesugi Shrine is a strategically placed shopping mall sole for the benefit of the tourists and primarily food. It’s actually not bad and worth a quick visit.

If you go to Yonezawa city, you must try this beef bento. The Yonezawa beef is the most tasty beef in any other Japanese beef. In this shop, you can buy a minched beef over rice in a bento style box. The price is around 1000 yen to 1500 yen. Taste so good!! You can also get this bento in Tokyo station if you can ‘t go Yonezawa city.

建物の雰囲気はよかったです。ですが食べ物は特別ではありませんでした。週末、祝日はランチでも大変混んでいるので予約をした方がいいです。my husband (not Japanese) probably enjoyed the experience more than I. This is probably a good place to take foreigners - but on weekend or holiday - make a reservation - even if you come around 11:30 like we did.
