Reviews on Japanese food in Stavanger, Western Norway, Norway. With about 120,000 people, Stavanger is Norway’s fourth-largest city and a fascinating mix of old and new. Its history stretches back deep into the Middle Ages. Stavanger was once a tranquil coastal market town and then later an important fishing port. But it was the 1969 discovery of oil offshore that forever changed the now bustling city’s fortunes and landscape. Don’t miss the well-preserved old town (Gamle Stavanger), the unique Canning Museum or the 12th-century Stavanger Cathedral.

Ordered take away Pokebowl and nudels. Both were delicious, I wanted to lick my plate afterwards. The Pokebowl was with spicy salmon. The spices were really well balanced and great presentation. I ordered 2 different nudels, one with pork and one with braised beef brisket. Again very well balanced sauce, nice and spicy. My favorite was the one with braised beef. The noodles were cooked to perfection. I will be back tomorrow !

Always delicious and fresh. I have even had something made new, because I was late and the hot food not warm enough they made me a new one. That is great service

The sushi was good, the salmon was really beautiful. However the staff is mostly Russian and are shouting/joking between themselves the whole time. At a certain point it became clear that they were also discussing the customers. If I would return, I would take away instead of eating in.

Sushi San is an asian fusion restaurant which is located at the railwaystation in Stavanger. We serve sushi, noodles (like soup and wok) and asian style .
I ordered a take-away from Sushi San and really enjoyed it. I often eat sushi when travelling (closer to something "healthy!") and so get to experience the gamut. Sushi San was definitely up there - they had an extensive menu that was translated into English online. Whilst I didn't eat in the restaurant, it seemed very scenic and romantic - I will definitely have a sit-in experience next time :)

After waiting 7 months, we finally got to visit Sabi Omakase! I have really been looking forward to this and the visit really lived up to our expectations. When entering you are met by the sommelier, which welcomes you with a drink. After this, the dinner menu is introduced by Roger Asakil Joya. He gladly answers questions and you can easily see that he has a great passion for the art of sushi. After this, the whole evening is spent at the bar counter while he is making the food and explaining each ingredient which is mainly local. We also went with the wine package which is carefully selected by the sommelier. He gives a great introduction often with small anecdotes about the wines. This is a great experience which I would really recommend if you have an interest for food and especially sushi. Me and my girlfriend went together with a couple we know. I would recommend to go with a group of friends as part of the experience for me was to be able to discuss and enjoy the food in a friendly setting.
