Our second year staying at Sahoro Resort and caught the free shuttle bus into Shintoku town to dine at all the great restaurants. Without a doubt Izakaya Mori was our favourite. Great food. English menu and lovely warm and welcoming hosts. It was our last night and a great way to end our stay but wish we had found it sooner as we would definitely have gone back.

My family of four made a lunch appt via their facebook website- response was quick n friendly. We drove and had a bit of trouble (but not too much) as the telephone number do not work in our gps n the mapcode led us to an onsen nearby. Finally we found the restaurant using age old technology- la motrice road signages. We took their set course which is pork, beef and chicken (ranges 2500-3000 yen per set). Each set comes with salad, main and coffee/tea. Dessert is additional (we ordered the cheese cake but i find that a bit too dry). The course features lots of different locally grown veg which is wonderful for us (adults). Still my kids enjoy the meat. I wish they could have an option of soup instead of salad (for my kids as the adults ended up eating 2 portions of salad which is quite huge). My husband wanted to drink a glass of red wine with the food but was discouraged by the waitress (i think she is the owner chef's wife), so i got to drink the wine instead. The place is not big and i see only the chef n the server. They do not speak much English but we get by. At the end of the meal, both of them send us out and waited till we drove off. Good Japanese hospitality. Do go and enjoy their food if u pass by Shintoku...but only if u have a car, cos i really do not know how else u can get there.
Torisei has been a favorite of mine for a few years. The staff is very nice (although they speak zero english). Both the grilled and the fried chicken is excellent. Ecah meal comes with soy beans and sometimes with raw chicken pieces. I can't wait to go back.
Very nice surprise- finding this via google maps. Very friendly staff, whilst we could not speak not read Japanese, they obliged with patience to explain to us, even with gestures. Then they brought out an English Translated paper, of their menu. The prawn flavored miso base was excellent- with 3 small piece of dry-fried shrimp, when the bow arrived you could smell the prawn flavoring!! It was yummy! And add some raw grinded garlic sauce- the wow factor goes up a few notches still!!The other was the regular miso based noodle- not bad but the prawn miso ramen was my favourite!!

Had lunch here, while switching the trains.Reasonably priced. Good thick hearty noodles though a bit too soft.Good location near Shintoku train station.Full of customers at lunch time, average service (need to manage the turns of customers from one to another, better).

A humble restaurant that serves tasty dishes made with local produce. The soba was good but service was average with the servers in the late afternoon working at a more leisurely pace while enjoying the local television programme. The ambience reflects that of a local casual Japanese eatery and that brought a smile to my face. Not sure if there was any English menu.

Food was great, my parents had tempura and they said it was really great. I think the soba there was great too but the only thing I didn't like was the limited choice on the menu. Apart from a hot soup soba I was hoping to get more side dishes/appetisers but it didn't seem like there was. Service was great and the soba tea was a very nice thing to try! And don't forget the ice-cream too!!
