I started with the ginger salad and miso...both were average. My sashimi dinner was pretty decent overall and reasonably fresh. I had the sashimi dinner, while my co-workers had some specialty sushi rolls, of which I tried several pieces and they were rather bland overall. My co-worker shared the bland opinion.

Went to eat there and a few roaches came out of the kitchen on the floor. Food is very expensive for the plain taste.Hi Sightseer, my name is Lenny. I am sorry if you had a bad dining experience at Hayashi Sushi &Grill. Every customer's experience is valuable to us, whether it be positive or negative. I just have a few questions about your review though. Did you dine at our location in City Center Newport News? We have not had any issues with bugs. We do have a professional pest control service every month and we have always had a clear report from them. I also wanted to ask whether or not you reported this to a manager at the time of your visit? We still respect and value your experience Sightseer so if you could please contact the restaurant and speak with me so I can get some more details of your experience to help improve our restaurant further.

Stopped in for lunch this past week and was pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the food. I had heard good things about it, but was reluctant due to the look of the restaurant from the outside. This restaurant was previously a steakhouse and they made some small renovations, but the outside looks a bit unkept and because of that reason, I had not been in to tast the food. This proves you cannot judge a book by its cover, but I still encourage the owners to take consideration, that there may be other diners like me, who make their choices on complete presentation, inside and out. I would go again, but the outside still creeps me.

So my husband and I scoured Warwick Blvd for some place different. Trip advisor told us to make a u-turn and come here @4.30. no one else in the restaurant. They seem to get alot of carry out business. AND. They deliver! The food was phenomenal! Just looking at the menu it seemed to be a combination of an upscale restaurant and Hole in the Wall Chinese joint, with a little alcohol. But I'm glad to be surprised. It's just a comfortable space with great food and attentive straight forward service. AND they make vegetarian sushi. It's our new spot for Chinese food.

Seeing very few reviews since my last one, 7 months ago, and a few of these being average, I felt another 5 star one was warranted. The clear mushroom soup is great. The Tuna tartar appetizer is also great. Their Sushi and Sashimi lunch plates are not only excellent, but also a mid-day bargain at less than $10, with soup or salad included. Their sushi rolls are interesting, and the presentation of each dish is special. Our favorite waitress, Anne, always makes our visits special. Most of the staff is friendly and good.

Ate at Saisaki Thu 09/06/2018 around 5pm. Our cost before tip: $56.18 which we thought was fair value. This is a Certificate of Excellence restaurant.Saisaki was near our hotel so we looked forward to a good Asian Food night. Restaurant had good signage and plenty of parking. We were the only customers in their large restaurant as we were led to a comfortable booth/table. This made us nervous. Service was quick and attentive throughout the meal. The menu had good variety and a large selection of sushi. I started with an Egg Drop Soup $1.50 which was horrible. Then had a Seafood Treasure $19.00 that contained a variety of fruits of the sea, but was very average. For desert Red Bean Ice Cream $3.00 was very good. Topped it off with 3ea Singha Beers @ $3.00 each (Happy Hour). Wife went with House Lo Mein $10.00 which she thought was uninspired. Also had a Spinach with Garlic dish $5.00 which we both thought was very good. Finished with a green tea $2.00.Bottom line: Great service in an attractive restaurant, but we were a bit disappointed in the food. Lots of restaurants in the area. We'll probably try one of them next time.
