By far the best omakase I've ever had in Korea. Loved the distinctive atomsphere and culinary experience that can not be felt anywhere else in Jeju. Really loved the napkin they give out as souvenir too! :) I will definitely revisit whenever I have the chance to visit Jeju.

Kohaku, meaning jade in Japanese, is an authentic Sushi restaurant opened in 2018 with a first class chef from Japan. If you want enjoy good sushi, this is the place. You will never be disappointed. Most ingredients are from Jeju locally. I tried lunch for two days consecutively since everything was great. Sushi lunch, W60,000, was Omakase, chef's suggestion was real Japanese first class quality course menu and Unagi, Eel, W48,000, was tender and delicioso. Not cheap but worth the price. There are private rooms, so OK for business meetings or family events. If you eat at your hotel restaurants, you should go to Kohaku. Dinner starts from W100,000 (course menus). Less than W5,000 by taxi from New Jeju City area (10 minutes). 30 minutes by taxi from Jungmun resort hotel area. The atmosphere is clean and tidy reminding you of sushi dinner in Paris or New York. Satisfaction guaranteed.

A Japanese restaurant served with heart. We had the seafood pot. It’s clams and crayfish served in butter sake broth. The seafood is cooked just right, will be better if it comes with more vegetables like cabbage or mushroom. Flavour is excellent though, recommended!

Su Udong

Reviewed By SoundChoice

There's a lot of competition out there for good food, especially on Jeju. However, Su Udong is hands down the finest place to eat in the Hyeopjae Beach area, not to mention one of the best casual Japanese restaurants on the island. The owners left a lucrative business in Seoul to open a slow-food restaurant in Jeju. They wanted to pursue both a business model and a lifestyle that was less profit driven and more meaningful. You can taste this in their food - they love what they do. The attention to detail is obvious, and almost artistic in its execution. This is a business in the best sense of the word; a craft lovingly pursued out of a passion for its realization. The udon-style noodles are hand made, on the premises, for each individual order. You can watch the maestro at work behind a glass panel as he plucks the dough into long strings of pure mouth music.Their tempura is delicate and crispy without being oily. The meats and vegetables used are often locally grown and always purchased the same day of your order. They only stay open until the ingredients last, so make sure you get there earlier rather than later (currently they close around 7:ish, depending on the number of customers). The fried pork cutlet is a thing of beauty, in no small way due to their exquisite sauces. The salad is a shredded cabbage with a light citrus dressing that I would drink by the liter if I was allowed to. And their cold noodle soups have a broth that is a balm in the summer heat - so robust and full of flavor, and such a compliment to the noodles as well as the fried hardboiled egg that comes with each bowl. So come and sit down in front of one of the large windows overlooking the ocean and Beyang Island. Cool your summer stomach while you listen to light jazz surrounded by a simple, bright décor. You won't regret it, I promise.
