The Hakata SC Park is on Hakatajima Island about 2/3 of the way between Onomichi and Imabari. If you are biking the Shimanami, you'll definitely want to stop here for a break. There is a sandy beach and some food stands. Park popularity is evident from the many bike racks and large parking lot.The "salt ice cream" is the specialty at the park. I didn't really notice the difference, but did enjoy a cone of soft serve while sitting at a picnic table and watching the families at the beach. To purchase ice cream, you have to put money into the ticket machine on the left side of the counter and then press the button corresponding to what you want. Because there are no pictures and everything is in Japanese, you may need to get the stand attendant to come out and help.

My daughter took us here the other night. Had a verity of things to eat. Started with the chicken skins that were very nice. Then on to the chicken with scallions also the beef and scallions both were delicious. Also the fried chicken and tofu weren't very good. Draft beer and saki we're cold and service was great. Great place to go and have some drinks and food.

The sign "taimeshi" in front of the restaurant lured me into it, and I ordered the rice with sea bream as a matter of course. As I waited for my lunch, I saw tendon (a bowl of rice with fried shrimps and vegetables) served for other. I wished I could have changed my order, although "takeshi" was not bad at all.

The food is good, varied and plentiful. However, to avoid very, very long lines arrive at 10:00 or earlier to put your name on the sign up list, and then show up at 11:30 to be let in. The food that is placed out is at room temperature. Be sure to have it heated if you like hot food. The fried oysters were oishi but the miso soup was too strong to me.

Visited the place after touring imabari castle. Just happen to pick the place based on TripAdvisor list and i must say we were glad that we went to this place. The bento set was good, seafood fresh and taimeshi 'rice cooked in fish broth' excellent. Kids had a great time. Scenery was great.
