Find out what Japanese restaurants to try in Honolulu. The mere mention of Hawaii is enough to prompt visions of grass skirts and colorful cocktails with tiny umbrellas. While you will find some kitsch in Honolulu, you’ll also find art museums, bike paths, and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Popular Waikiki Beach has soft sands and great surf. For majestic Oahu views scramble to the top of Diamond Head – a 350-acre volcanic crater. Historic structures like Iolani Palace and Ali'iolani Hale are worth a visit on a non-beach day.

We stumbled upon Doraku Sushi Waikiki while looking for a place to eat dinner @ the Royal Hawaiian Center. After walking around, up & downstairs, and looking at several menus posted @ the doorway, we choose Doraku Sushi Waikiki. We were greeted upon entering. We did not have a reservations although was seated right away after the hostess offerred us the choice of outdoor or indoor dining. We chose indoor. She sat us near the window with a beautiful mountain view and street view of Waikiki. Our order was taken immediate with great advice on the various selection on the menu, not to forget to mention the awesome drink selection. We had a variety of pupu as well as a Donburi. All of the food was superb along with the service. Throughout the dinner, we were able to see the Waikiki nightlife unfold from our window view. The restaurant filled up but it was never too crowded, loud, or too busy. All of the servers, host, table cleaners on top of it. We enjoyed our dinner and the rest of the night. We will return again, soon. Mahalo Doraku Sushi Waikiki for a superb experience.

Far beyond our expectations. It was the best hidden gem in Honolulu.Unique and luxurious personalised dining experience of genuine Japanese cuisine! Every course is like an art piece. Highly recommended! Not suitable for family with young kids though.

Serving its award-winning Asian-Pacific cuisine that has become a local favorite, our seaside eatery is famous for preparing mouth-watering seafood dinners for our welcomed guests.
Sansei has some killer sushi. Thatâs why I went... it did not disappoint. My two sushi rolls had great flavor, but were a little small. 6 pieces in a roll isnât that common where Iâm from (usually a roll is eight). My wife got the duck entree and said it was phenomenal! The service was great, too. Get a reservation! We had one, thankfully, but there was an hour wait at 7:00 on a Monday night. Aloha and thank you for taking the time to post your review and your comments. We appreciate them very much and we're glad you had a good experience dining with us.

Excellent takeout spot for poke bowls with a central Waikiki location. There are lots of options here; so one can customize the perfect poke bowl. Unfortunately, the place was out of sushi rice the weeknight evening we visited. Service here was friendly. Fish is super fresh. Don't hesitate to have lunch or dinner here, there are a few tables. Most people do takeout.

Trendy Bar scene with open kitchen. Comfortable seating in all dining rooms. Great and attentive service. Great food! Loved their Sticky Ribs, juicy, tender and delicious; their Sashimi Salad (President Obamaâs favorite) is out of this world. A true great and enjoyable culinary experience. One of the best restaurants I have visited. Ask your waiter for their signature and favorite dishes and you wonât be disappointed. Reservation a definite recommendation.

I wanted to try this place after reading reviews, and was glad we did. We've never had tonkatsu before and our server kindly and patiently - but not patronizingly - helped us order and explained how to make the sauce, etc. The food was great, particularly the fried pork itself, which was outstanding. A great experience.

Came here twice in one week because our first visit was so good that we wanted more. I was a little apprehensive at first, given the old school decor and dress code. Worry not. As long as you dress appropriately, they welcome you. You donât need to be super dressed up. I wore a Hawaiian shirt and khakis both times, no problem. We had Wagyu rib eye, and Beef Wellington. Both done to perfection and well seasoned. There house made steak sauces were on point. Appetizers of onion soup and Ahi carpaccio were amazing. They do the old cart service for bananas foster and strawberry jubilee. Excellent. Wine list is very good. Seafood is on the menu, looked great but I did not try any seafood entree. Service is top notch all the way. The only mark down I could give them is that the Air conditioning has a hard time keeping the temp down enough during crowded hours on hot evenings.Dear timthe 1,Thank you for the kind words..very happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us!As for the dress code, because we have many guests who are celebrating something special, we feel it is only right to create an atmosphere that is fitting for such. We ask that gentlemen wear collared shirts and full shoes, no sandals or slippers(flip-flops), for all guest we ask that no baseball style caps or beachwear are worn.We realize that when the weather outside is hot and we are full, the air conditioning can be an issue, for that I apologize, we hope to have this remedied soon.Again, Thank you!

When walking through town, we stopped to look over the menu. Saw they had a price fixe menu for $46 from 5-6 pm, made reservations for the following night. When we arrived the following night, we asked to be seated outside so we didnt have to be in a/c. Ordered mai tais and wine. The price fixe consisted of an appetizer with poke, main course was a filet and 2 large garlic shrimp. The filet was on a bed of mac & cheese, sauce was delicious. Dessert was a chocolate lava cake and ice cream which was divine! Probably my favorite dinner while in Waikiki.

We were seated immediately near several tables for wedding guests enjoying their after ceremony dinner. It was a joy to see so many happy people for a very special occasion. The service was fast, the food was very good, and the drinks were perfectly made. My only complaint is that some birds flew in to find food left on the floor. We had to shoo them away when they got too close.

My son and I made a quick trip to Hawaii to relax before he began school. We arrived in HNL, changed clothes and headed directly for Marukame. It was so hot and humid (89/75% humidity) outside and their Udon is the only hot soup I would ever consider eating in such heat! They make fresh noodles right in front of you, and their broth is like no other! They offer all kinds of individual tempura sticks (I had shrimp) to go with the soup. SOOO Yummy! We even went back for one more bowl but found they had closed for renovations! They're prices are so low ($3.65) regular sized bowl, I would pay triple for their delicious soup and we definitely visit next time I'm in Hawaii!
