Reviews on Japanese food in Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada. A former fur trade fort, the village of Fort Langley offers a quaint, historic village with shops, restaurants, museums, and the Fort Langley National Historic Site. Surrounded by the Fraser River and lush agricultural countryside, it makes a great day trip from Vancouver especially when combined with visits to nearby Fraser Valley wineries and farms.

After a light shopping trip in Langley my bff and I wanted sushi, she has been here before and really enjoyed their Creamy Prawn. So off we went via the golden ears bridge. The restaurant is located near the Maple Ridge police station. Upon entry we were greeted right away and were brought to our table with a nice cup of hot tea! Yum yum We ordered the creamy prawns , delicious! Prawns wrapped in possibly Won Ton wrapper with cream cheese then deep fried. Will order this again . The menu has many many different speciality rolls. Recommendations Hot Night Roll. Mango Special roll, both have spicy tuna in it. Also recommend the Golden Bridge Roll (not a spicy roll). Will return to this restaurant. Enjoy

While on business in Langley I went for dinner at Sushi Avenue. It was early evening and even though I walked in and greeted the two chefs, it was a while before the hostess noticed me. I almost left as I thought I may never be served. However, once I was noticed the service was acceptable and pleasant. The sushi was very good. The tuna sashimi melted in your mount, and the different rolls were interesting. Not the traditional bland sushi rolls you get in other places, these rolls had different textures and sauces that made for an excellent dinning experience.

This was the most sub par sushi joint in Langley I've ever been in. Service was friendly but slow and inattentive (only 2 tables were seated for 3 employees.) the tempura was poor, very heavy breading. Chicken Karaage was just little pieces of chicken breaded in what appeared to be tempura, no flavour (appeared to have not been marinated) and over cooked. Dynamite roll was fine, what you expect of one. Toro sashimi was a low grade cut, toro is supposed to melt in your mouth but the majority of this was more like regular tuna. The gomaae was good but definitely the smallest serving I've ever seen. I can't recommend this restaurant at all and caution first timers that the reviews are suspiciously excellent for a place that is below average for the area.

Very friendly staff, large selection of sushi rolls, appies, rice dishes, bento boxes and lunch specials. Very conveniently located right off the exit of freeway across the parking lot of the famous Cabelas outdoor store. Have been there a couple of times and have recommended it to friends. Prices are reasonable, everything appears clean and tidy including the washroom! Only complaint is that the large sushi rolls, while delicious, need to be rolled tighter - otherwise flavour is great and presentation is nice. Great stop for a quick sushi fix.

May be incorrectly listed Asatusa on tripadvisor
Our regular Japanese restaurant wasn't open on Mother's Day last week, so we headed over to Asakusa across the street. The restuarant was very clean and very nicely decorated in true Japanese style. We placed our order and I guess 10 minutes is too long to wait for food, they brought us each a complimentary prawn appetizer....positively delicious. They brought my husbands meal first and because I had to "wait" 30 longer for mine to arrive they doubled my portion.....it was sooooooooooooo delicious I finished most of it. I had the Pork Katsu and my husband had the chicken teriyaki.....both meals were beyond delicious. The prices were more than fair and we really enjoyed our supper there and will return the next time a craving for Japanese returns. The server was absolutely delightful....charming and personable.

Just moved to the neighbourhood and we were looking for a Japanese restaurant close by. We saw Japan Sushi on one of our walks and decided to try it. The menu is quite extensive and we decided to try a variety of items. We ordered pan fried gyoza, mixed tempura, chicken yakitori and some nigiri sushi (wild salmon, tuna and ebi). All items were very good and the sushi was very tender with just the right amount of wasabi. We have been back four times in the last two weeks and it has always been good. Would recommend.

My wife and I had business in Maple Ridge and decided to take our daughter out for lunch as a combined business and birthday treat. Because the three of us love sushi, it was an easy decision to go to the Shinobi Sushi restaurant again. Our daughter said that it was under new management from the last time we were there but, I am glad to say that it certainly did not disappoint. We arrived at lunch time and the restaurant was busy but the service and food was very quick. We had a combination roll platter and also the Maple Ridge roll, which is to die for. The platter had rolls and sushi done in three's which was just perfect us. I feel that the prices are more than reasonable for the quality and amount of food that you receive. It was well worth the drive out to Maple Ridge and we look forward to having our next lunch at this restaurant.

We would never have found this place on our own as we don't live in this area - but friends who used to live here recommended it as their "favorite sushi place" so we agreed to meet up at Noma. It's in a new mall near 208th where they have been building houses, TH, condos like mad for the past few years and has clearly become a huge hit: the Saturday night we got there a little before 6 pm: by 6:30 there wasn't an empty table, and it's a decent sized place. We were greeted by the sushi chefs and the hostess on entering, given the option of a couple tables, and brought tea and water immediately on request. Then we studied the menu...for a while...While they don't have bento boxes for dinner (yes, for lunch) it's easy to build-your-own combo from their menu. We had the Assorted Tempura which came with 14 pieces (including four prawns) as an appy. Nice presentation - excellent flavors. We all had miso soup - not much to say except that I love having a cup to start and at $1.50 that's an easy call IF you're not ordering a sushi combo (included with those).Three of us had different sushi combos - all were very generous and well prepared. One of us had chicken teriyaki instead: I tried a bite - really nicely flavored and on a bed of mung sprouts, with a side of white rice.Total bill including tax and nice tip came to under $20 per person.Really an outstanding choice!

Several weeks ago we visited Ford Langley. Since it was early evening and we felt hungry we went for dinner to the âTokyo Gardenâ. We ordered Salmon Sashimi, Pan Fried Gyoza, Tokyo House Roll (Crab Meat, Avocado, Cucumber, Tamago, Unagi, 2 pcs Deep Fried Prawns with Salmon on Top), Takoyaki (Deep Fried Ball Shaped Batter Filled with Diced Octopus), Philadelphia Roll (Salmon, Cream Cheese, Avocado) and the Combo 2 (4 pcs California Roll, BBQ teriyaki Chicken on Rice, 3 pcs Tempura & Salad). Despite we were almost the only guest, we had to wait quite a long time to get the food served. The Gyoza looked good; but the taste and consistency was not so great: The filling was not much, was extremely soft and tasted like cabbage only. One of the worst dishes was the Salmon Sashimi: Already the meat didnât look like fresh salmon; it had the appearance of some smoked salmon. The pieces were also not cut into nice pieces. The taste was also not good â and the meat was partially still frozen!!! We were also not impressed by the Takoyaki; the taste was not great. The Combo was kind of ok; just the Teriyaki was cold when served and the meat was pretty firm. And for that price of the combo one would get larger serving with more pieces somewhere else. The Philadelphia Roll didnât taste special; also here appeared the salmon meat to be not fresh. And the Tokyo House Roll was disappointing too: The prawn tempura was cold which indicated that it wasnât prepared fresh. And also the salmon meat on top of it was visibly not fresh. As a conclusion I cannot recommend that restaurant.
