This place is listed incorrectly. The name is Davis Sushi Buffet in Davis California. I ate here with my wife and mother-in-law. I don't like sushi but they do. I ate the fried selections. The shell-on fried shrimp was rubbery and nasty. The fried prawns were tasteless and strange looking. The soft shell crab was tasteless and grainy. The chow mien had an odd taste. The deserts were poorly made. My wife said the sushi was OK. I wouldn't eat here again....not even if the food was free

Being from Hawaii, I decided to try this relatively new restaurant with a friend. We had the Grilled salmon bento, poke bowl and pork belly and shiitake yakitori. The servings were generous with 2 pieces of salmon in the bento, but the flavoring/sauce of the salmon was not as I expected. So with the pork belly and shiitake yakitori. The poke bowl was not up to Hawaiian standards. I am torn as whether to try the ramen.

I wish I could say the food was good, but it was very disappointing, especially with so many great reviews. It was presented in a gorgeous manner. I can only think I would have been better off just ordering sushi. As it was, I ordered the grilled salmon. I sent it back twice for being so over-cooked that it was like shoe leather. The final time it came to me, it was leathery on the thinner ends and raw in the thicker center. This item shouldn't be on the menu if they don't know how to cook fish. My family ordered sushi and it was quite good. Our server was super helpful and accommodating. He was so distressed that my meal was unsatisfactory.

One usually thinks of Japanese food as hibachi or sushi. This restaurant is different. They have multiple items on skewers along with other traditional dishes. I had gyozu (fried dumplings) along with chicken on skewers with five different coatings/sauces. Both were excellent. My dinner companions all had dishes ranging from tofu with a sauce to soups to salads. All the dishes were excellent. The service on the other hand was spotty. We were seated right away and then ignored. Eventually our server (a young man) appeared and we ordered drinks and diner. The drinks took a while to arrive but our food appeared on a timely basis. We again had to wait to get our check . Even with the spotty service I'd go back-the food was that good.

Visiting Davis for a local 200 mile road bike ride event, we walked around and found this place. We opted for the all-you-can-eat option. We sat at the sushi bar with all the sushi boats going around...grab what want. You can also order directly from the chef. We did both. Not bad sushi! Street parking...but have fun finding a spot. No complaints.

Don't let the cramped space and the fact that "everyone in your party must be present to be seating" scare you away. This is the real thing. GREAT SUSHI... so good that I have never tried anything else on the menu!! Many people recommend Mikuni but for me, Zen Toro is the real thing and not a chain. Also, they have amazing green tea ice cream that is made special for them.

A cool, urban vibe balances a warm, friendly atmosphere at Mikuni's eighth restaurant. Located in the Davis Commons, right in the heart of the downtown area, this newest hot spot is within easy walking distance of the UC Davis campus. We're delighted to ha
If this place was in San Francisco, it would be 3/5, i.e., average. However, in Davis, I am tempted to give 4/5. The sushi was okay and my tamago-meter was solid in the middle of the scale. However service really excelled. Definitely back, as there are not many tasty options in this town.
