Most Japanese folks like this type of mochi (rice cake) dishes: mochi cakes on a skewer grilled with several original pastes.

Thier pig cutlet rice bowls are really impressive and very popular among autobicycle tourists. Recently relocated to Aizu-mura campus.
Saitama Prefecture, Japan Food Guide: 3 Asian food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Wako
This is a tarted-up version of the local cuisine, but I have to admit it's well done. The building is attractive and the service is good. We had the set course, and it included local specialities such as Kozuyu (soup with lots of goodies in) and Tempura Manju (deep-fried sweet bean buns), served with a pinch of salt. Whether this cuisine really merits the kaiseki treatment is a matter of opinion, but we had a nice evening here.
