It is located in the Šumava Mountains, close to the border with Bavaria and the German town Bayerisch Eisenstein. It is one of the important sports and tourism centres of the Šumava Mountains. The German name of the town comes from The Middle Ages, when it was a market town. Its German population was expelled after 1945.

We visited Železná Ruda and some of the local folks told us about this place. We went there and were a bit put off by the look of the place, but we decided to eat there. We did not try any other restaurant in the town, but I am still confident, that this is the best pizza&pasta place around. And I dont think I ever tasted better Italian food anywhere else. We were absolutely surprised and amazed by the quality of food in such place. Definitely would recommend.

Lovely little place- great host - me and my partner went twice and both times the food was v good - large portions - very tasty.I am vegetarian and my partner is vegan and we both had lots of choice.

We had lunch here twice on our recent visit to Bodenmais. The pizzas were very good. I also tried a pasta dish which was good. Very generous portions. The staff were very friendly and remembered us.
