The food was good as always in an Ask Italian. What's special about this restaurant is its lovely garden at the back. The perfect place to enjoy dinner on a summer's evening. Thankfully, the staff did stop some children from running around playing a loud game of chase just when they were becoming boisterous and annoying.

This is a breath of fresh air when compared to the same old rubbish that the high street chains serve up with their giant buckets of average tasteless coffee. The owner Lee is passionate about what he produces and the quality comes through in his food and drinks. I had a wonderful lasagna which was a recipe from Leeâs Great Grandmother, which she used to make for the family many moons ago. Passed down to Lee it certainly has stood the test of time and along with Paniniâs and great coffee. My daily pilgrimage was something that I enjoyed whilst staying in Colchester. One things for sure I shall return when Iâm next up in the area and I hope that the good people of Colchester realise what a Gem they have on their doorstep.

Always really busy and cramped, its quite small for a restaurant! I had something with really big mushrooms in, im sure this came out of a tin as it had a horrible taste and covered half of the toast but the eggs were really nice. Dear Tiaeggleston,Thank you for taking your time to leave some feedback we really appreciate it. Apologies that you didn't find the egg and mushrooms to your taste, I can assure you they are prepared and cooked in our kitchen not from a tin but perhaps this didn't reflect on the presentation/taste.I hope you that in the future we will see you again.Thanks again.

Very impressed with the menu and we loved the food served in this restaurant. We weren't expecting it to be so good! If we lived nearer, we would definitely make regular visits here.And a nice surprise to find that there's a female chef in charge in the kitchen!

Visited with a group of friends and we were all very disappointed to say the least. The waitress was extremely unhelpful, she advised us we could not add a requested extra topping even though the topping requested was on other pizzas on the menu?? It took over an hour for our pizzas to arrive and when they did we were then completely forgotten about while, it appeared, the waitress went for a break!! We weren't asked how our meals were or if we wanted any further drinks, desserts etc. It wasn't even busy so no excuse....... Very poor and will not be returning. Good afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback on our service.I'm sorry to see that you weren't taken care of throughout your meal, all of your comments have been passed on to the Colchester Staff Members to ensure that this doesn't happen again. As an independent business, we strive to perform well on all aspects of service, and I am really sorry that we didn't deliver on this occasion. An authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Colchester. Efficient service. Excellent value. Good range of pasta dishes and risotto with more expensive meat and fish dishes also available. My wife particularly enjoys the lasagne because it is free of garlic. Our own slight criticism is that the fruit juices are not good quality. Desert includes a very nice tiramisu and delicious panda cotta.

.....but a few niggles. Food good, tasty, freshly made with good ingredients. Slightly let down by the wine, may be just our choice but wasnât a great bottle, and not overly chilled. Service was ok but a bit slow at times, appreciate they were busyish but had to make eye contact a couple of times to get attention, not a deal breaker as we prefer not to be fussed over too much.Would we go again, yes for sure, pretty confident we would enjoy a return visit and try a different wine!

I've been to this restaurant a few times & the food is a bit inconsistent. Sometimes the food has been lovely, other times a little bland. The chicken jugs that wine is served in are beautiful & add fun and character to the meal. The restaurant itself is very small & a bit hard to move around if you have mobility problems. Also, there is only one loo for all the customers! I would return again as, on a good day, the food is worth it.

Excellent service from the moment arrived until the moment we reluctantly departed. Food was delicious, even my rather fussy daughter enjoyed everything. The fish cakes were sublime. The host was charming and entertaining, the chef was concerned that you enjoyed his creations, he really didnât need to worry it was all exceptional. An absolute gem of a restaurant, see you again soon.
