Find out what Italian restaurants to try in Winnipeg. Any city that can be the butt of a Simpson's joke ("That's it! We're all going back to Winnipeg!") and simultaneously one of the most vibrant cultural centers in Canada is tops in our book. The city's history of isolation and self-sufficiency means that Winnipeggers are unpretentious and sincere (and fun-loving enough to name Homer an honorary citizen). Though the winters are long and cold, there are plenty of indoor activities to both keep you warm and stimulate your imagination.

The location is a long distance from where I was staying, but it was worth the drive. The lasagna was very large a rates four stars. The pizza looked great, but I will have to try that another time.

While the food was what I expected from the Olive Garden ( although the Alfredo sauce has went downhill in the past few years, itâs easy to tell they are cutting costs with ingredients ) The dining room was filthy - see photos. The glasses on the table were gross and the ceiling And air vent was COVERED in mould. If thatâs what the dining room looks like I would hate to see the kitchen and areas the customers canât see. Wonât be back.

Carne is a new Italian concept from WOW! Hospitality featuring an incredible menu from Chef Michael Dacquisto. The menu showcases some classic dishes from Pasta La Vista and Dacquisto's restaurants, in addition to new specialties such as Wagyu beef, AAA b
Went with a group of 33 on May 9, including people from all over Canada. Michael and his colleagues did exactly what I expected. Delivered fantastic service and amazing food. Quote from out of town guest âI have never had a steak this good.â Private room is fantastic for large groups. Carne continues to be one of my favourite restaurants. Have never had a bad experience. Michael and his colleagues should be proud.

Cafe Carlo is a friendly, unpretentious Canadian bistro.Cafe Carlo's menus have always looked to the world's favorite dishes, and by putting its unique stamp on it creates an experience to be craved. We feature "real cooking", from scratch, made in-house
Our party of four recently attended Cafe Carlo based on the unsolicited recommendation of a stranger who overheard our conversation about where we should go for dinner. We were advised that this was one of those 'must try' restaurants in Winnipeg, and they were right.Tucked away on a side street just off of one of Winnipeg's trendiest avenues, Cafe Carlo doesn't particularly stand out from the crowd and is likely why none of us had ever heard of it or seen it before. The restaurant itself is fairly nondescript on the exterior but it is noticeably clean, modern, and tastefully decorated on the interior. We found all of the staff warm and friendly.Upon ordering drinks, we began our dinner with a shared plate of perfectly fried Calamari. It's rather important to note that very few restaurants can boast about their skill in preparing such a finicky cephalopod, but Cafe Carlo nailed it! Soft and tender on the inside with a light and crunchy batter on the outside...it was culinary perfection! One of our guests ordered the curry chicken salad as their starter and refused to share a bite, so that's rather telling! The other ordered crispy prawns with a killer ginger sauce and everyone at the table was lapping up the leftover sauce with whatever remaining item they had available including calamari, lettuce, bread, and fingers! Cafe Carlo can totally bottle this stuff and sell it.Our mains arrived shortly thereafter and in timely fashion. Granted, we were dining on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was only about 1/3 full, so I cannot properly report on what their meal service would have been like during prime time, but for mid-week, it was spot on. My wife ordered one of her all-time favorite dishes, the Canelloni, which was perfectly prepared and very tasty by most anyone's standards, except that to me, Canelloni will always just be Canelloni. It's basically a tomato and cheese sauce baked inside a pasta shell. Yeah, it was good, but I have yet to try one so incredible that I would feel compelled to write home about it. However, if you like Canelloni as much as my wife does, this one was as good as it gets. I decided to order the hand-made Potato Gnocchi in Pesto Sauce simply because the true measure of any good Italian-inspired restaurant is how well they can prepare an in-house Gnocchi and pesto. The verdict: Outstanding! I found the potato / pasta mixture slightly lopsided on the potato side, but it was pan fried to a crisp perfection and mouth-wateringly scrumptious in the accompanying savory pesto sauce. My only major critique was that the portion size was sorely lacking to the extent that everyone else at the table felt sorry for me and kept offering me their own food rather than sampling a taste of mine. (Note to the Restaurateurs: Gnocchi is a relatively inexpensive potato and semolina dumpling and not a dry-aged filet mignon. At $23, a third more volume would have made me sing your praises even louder)Our dinner guests selected the Meaty Penne and the Pappardelle, as I properly recall, and both of them continuously raved about their food and vowed to return here again. Within our small consortium of self-declared food snobs, the entire meal was a solid 4 out of 4...which is exceedingly rare. Nicely done, Cafe Carlo! Admittedly, the mixed drinks were a wee bit pricier than expected, as others have mentioned, but it was all part of an enjoyable dining experience. The appetizers and mains, however, are all well within the price range for a fine dining establishment.Thank you Cafe Carlo! We'll be back.Thank you Edventurous,We look forward to seeing you again sometime.

We arrived for an early Saturday dinner with a group of seven and no reservation. We were told that as long as we could be done in 2 hours, they had a table for us. Although our waiter was attentive, we waited over 90 minutes from the time we sat down until our food arrived. No other tables near us were served any earlier. As soon as one member of our party looked like they were naring the end of their meal, we had buspersons hovering to remove the plates and cutlery. If the dining room manager knew that we wouldn't get our food in time to make the 2 hour limit, they should have warned us. We wouldn't have stayed. The portions are massive, the pre-dinner buns were the highlight of the meal but since they contain pinenuts, some members of our group couldn't have any due to allergies. The meals were fine but there was no stand out dish.

Serving fresh seasonal cuisine crafted by our expert culinary team, The Palm Lounge is open to hotel guests and the public, for lunch, dinner, and late night dining as well as for drinks and live local music nightly.
Look, itâs a great atmosphere to sit, enjoy an expensive drink, and listen to some jazz piano. The couple of times Iâve had appetizers and theyâve been just fine.My continued issue is understaffing and/or slow service. I only drop in here occasionally but Every. Time. Surely I canât be the only one experiencing this and youâd think maybe theyâd have more than one visible person for the whole room (okay, maybe there are two? If so, thatâs poor service not staffing issues).Thank you for dining with us in the Palm Lounge! Weâre so fortunate to have return Guests such as yourselves, and look forward to seeing you again soon. We consistently aim to have the appropriate staffing levels to serve all of our Guests in a prompt, friendly manner, and do our best to evaluate predicted number of Guests. We appreciate your feedback and use it to continually improve.

Picked up a large pepperoni pizza the other day and was it delicious. Lots of good quality mozzarella and great tasting pepperoni. The price is higher then youâll pay at the pizza chain places but itâs well worth it because of the quality ingredients used. I will for sure eat here again.
