Pasghetti's Italian Restaurant

Made reservation yesterday for extended family to celebrate my mother's 83 birthday and it was a lovely evening. Although the restaurant was not busy when we arrived it quickly picked up shortly after. Still, with only one server on the floor, service was terrific. Our table was waiting when we arrived a bit early and our server, Meagan, was very helpful with menu selections, especially with my mother who a) was having difficulty seeing the menu and b) was overwhelmed with all of the choices. She ultimately chose a chicken dish in a mushroom sauce with roasted potatoes and declared it delicious. I had the chicken parm, my nephew the baked ziti, my older daughter had a chicken ceasar salad, my youngest daughter the chicken gianni, and my sister had the open-faced calzone - all were superb. My youngest daughter has food allergies and we are always confident in the preparation of her food here. All dishes are made-to-order and the chef takes all precautions to avoid cross-contamination. Caution: Portions are huge; we all left with carryout boxes! Service was wonderful and my mother was made to feel very special, other diners joined in wishing her a happy birthday. Just a terrific evening!

My husband and I were going to a movie in Shelbyville and wanted to grab a bite to eat. So we decided on pizza and Bellacino's is a right across from the theater. We have had grinders here before but this time we were in the mood for pizza. Wow! The crust was perfect just the right chew and the toppings not too much but not too little. The Italian sausage was spicy, the pepperoni yummy. We got a large so we would have one more meal...we ate and ate and only had enough for my husband to have the next day. Great food, good price.

We stopped at Don's while driving through Indiana. We each ordered spaghetti since we were in a hurry and didn't want to wait for a pizza to cook. Even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, it was almost half an hour before our spaghetti arrived. The spaghetti was so overcooked, the noodles were mushy and there was literally water on the plates with the sauce. The sauce appeared to just be cans of stewed tomatoes. It was probably the worst pasta either of us had ever had.The garlic bread appeared to be half a bun dipped in fake orange butter and microwaved. It was not crispy or even hot.The restaurant was dirty and had a tv that was blaring Inside Edition, so we couldn't even chat during the long wait for the food. I wanted to ask if we could turn the tv down, but no one ever came out to see how we were doing, so there was no one to ask.
