I'd booked for 4 of us (you need to!) 3 days previously for a mid-week lunch. Everything was perfect. We were made very welcome by Hugo, the long-serving waiter. Great choice of starters, main meals and desserts. The food was delicious - hot and well cooked - and the jugs of wine perfect. Couldn't have been better. Great value for money, cosy atmosphere and we were made to feel special guests.

Best value and service. We took a 3 course menu with a glass of wine included for lunch. The price was very low and the food was fresh and good. The service was really good and friendly. We ordered another glass of wine and at the end we got a free digestive. it is our routine now to go and buy the Politi's raviolis. The shop is really nice with view on the "royal canal". You can have a sit there and taste a lot of Italians originals products.

Basically, Chez Melo is Carmeloâs (Italian, from Calabria) rather messy kitchen with a handful of bar seats placed around it. You can help yourself to beers and soda from a fridge near the door. And food is served in a pizza box, paper napkin, or plastic plate.Yet the quality of both the pizzas and pastas is absolutely amazing. We were with five people, managed to get enough seats, and before we could decide what to order Melo suggested making two pizzas (his oven canât handle more at once), followed by freshly made pasta of the day (zucchini). Both the pizzas and the pasta were simply great, and we could have seconds from the pasta if we were still hungry. All of this set us back 55 euros, including drinks and tip.Oh, and if youâre lucky, Carmelo will get his guitar and start singing some Italian tunes.
