We took the train to this village and was not disappointed. As you come out of the train station turn left and the restaurant is at the end of that lane, on a cross road,on your right. Lots of Seating outside with some shade from a large tree and plenty inside. We had the menu of the day which I think was 2 courses hubby had escalope of pork and I had spaghetti bolognese which we can recommend. The cost was 12 euros per person and based on that you could not find better. We also had 1/2 carafe house white wine for 4 euros again great for the price and we are picky! The coffee was good which you would expect in Italy.A great stop off for a good priced menu of the day and we would recommend for couples, families and groups. Staff very polite especially as I only have pigeon Italian.

We went to this restaurant because the B&B owner where we stayed (Luce del Mattino, in Santa Maria Maggiore), recommended it. There was no menu, instead, the owner, who speaks several languages, told us what the choices were for that evening. We had fantastic pasta and great lamb chops, followed by some tasty desserts. For a wine, they asked us what we liked and then brought out a bottle of local red sparkling wine, which was also very good and went well with the food. Because we had 2 little ones with us, they made a pasta with tomato sauce for them - they loved, and we tried it and would have happily gobbled it up, too!

I know this place, since many years ago. It was one of my parents favorite restaurants. Val Vigezzo has been for many, many years, the place where, in my youth, I used to spend the summer vacations, together with my parents. Now, living abroad, unfortunately I cannot visit it as often as I would, but whenever I come here, not only it is a great culinary pleasure for me, but it evokes pleasant memories of my youth. A bit of nostalgia! Apart from this personal feelings, "Il Camoscio" is a very nice mountain restaurant, where to enjoy POLENTA, together with meat, cheese and porcini mashrooms. Tagliatelle with porcini mashrooms also represent a very good choice. Unfortunately, the dessert is not so great, better a nice Genepy, maybe sipped outside, lying on a deckchair, when the weather conditions are good. Prices are absolutely affordable.

My wife and I stopped in this restaurant to have lunch while visiting Santa Marie Maggiore, while on holiday. Very nice place. Good food, good service, and reasonably priced. We shared a carafe of white wine, I had a pizza, and my wife had the risotto. The pizza was right out of the oven and my wife indicated that the risotto was top rate. We would happily stop here again for a meal!We thank for the beautiful critique

Bar Rudi is an amazing stop when in Santa Maria Maggiore. The food was excellent. If you order wine you will receive a huge portion of bread and prosciutto as an accompaniment. There is a really nice menu with outstanding prices. The bathroom was immaculately clean and nice to use. It is a wonderful stop!

Having stopped off for a pizza for lunch, we were so impressed that we returned some days later for dinner. Apart from excellent pizza, they have an array of local delicacies. We tried the wild boar stew as well as the venison. We both agreed it was excellently prepared and served. The indoor area is cosy with a Swiss feel while the outdoor area can be cool in inclement weather. But you can't fault the service or the food at inexpensive prices

Le Colonne is a must if you are travelling between Domodossola (I) and Locarno (CH) in Val Vigezzo (a.k.a. known as Centovalli). As testified by the comments on Le Colonne predominantly being written in Italian, this is a restaurant favored by the Italians as opposed to those restaurants mostly attracting foreign tourists. And yes, this a 'ristorante', not a 'trattoria' or a 'pizzeria'. The menu includes excellent, less common items. The salad with rabbit tenderloin as a first course was simply great. Veal cheek as a main course had been prepared superbly tender and delicious. Bread selection is also beyond the usual, including black grissini and several other types of tasty bread made in-house. I was met with very attentive and friendly service. Despite the rain pouring for several hours the evening I visited Le Colonne, the townsfolk were also plenty. Considering the food, the wine, the service and the ambience, the prices are well in balance and a visit is most recommended.

The attractive landscape of the Alps, the ancient tradition of stone houses, the woods and the embrace of a quiet nature would be sufficient reasons to visit the typical restaurant Divin Porcello. Designed to preserve as much as possible the local traditi
From the service to the food and the price, everything here is excellent. The servers are friendly and the ambiance is cute and romantic. The menu was plentiful and provided many options. We enjoyed gnocchi and pappardelle. The quality of homemade pasta was fabulous! We also ordered filet mignon that was out of this world. I highly recommend this place if youâre craving genuinely good food with excellent service!Buonasera, da tutto lo staff un sentito ringraziamento....è bello avere clienti come Voi!!!! Grazie Massimo
