Things to do in Santa Clara

I was there with some other travellers I met before. We chose that restaurant because there was a long line - especially cubans. So we thought that might be a good restaurant. That was the worst food I got in Cuba. I had the spaghetti with mortadella. The 5 CUC for them were really too much!

This little restaurant is a find! It is one block off Parque Vidal, a paladar peso restaurant with very inexpensive but very good food (for Cuba). Prices are in moneda national rather than CUCs, (Cuban Convertables, the money tourists mostly use) but you can pay in CUCs and they will convert fairly. We ate there three times. I paid 100 pesos in moneda national ($4 U.S.) for a delicious langosta (lobster) dish, which they will prepare grilled, or with garlic sauce or a criolla sauce. My husband had a breaded pork chop once and garlic shrimp the other times, for about $2.50. You get a choice of rice: I advise you choose the "Moros Y Christianes" , which is black beans and rice, literally translated it means Moores and Christians, hence the black beans and white rice. The home made desert flan is good too. Best of all, to counteract the mostly bland Cuban food everywhere else, if you ask for salsa picante they will bring out a home made green hot sauce. It is in a plastic bottle, but the sauce inside is made there, not the stuff that was originally in the bottle. One waitress, Leyanis, speaks a little English, and she is eager to practice. The menu is of course only in Spanish, but Leyanis will help explain the dishes or use your google translate on your phone if you don't speak enough Spanish. Mi Spanish is limited, but we got by fine.

Habano's Bar is definitely a place to visit in Santa Clara, Cuba. We have been in this enchanting bar several times and they always go beyond our expectations. We love the combination of live music, excellent cocktails, very friendly atmosphere and the best pizzas you can eat in town. Our recently visit could not be better and we are very grateful for such a wonderful experience. For sure we will come back and recommend it to our friends. Thank you again!!!
Sorry, I visited and I got upset stomach. I had a pizza. Tasty, but it was all very fatty. I do not recommend it to people who don't like to eat a lot of fat.

Italian food in the middle of caribbean, you must taste :)
The building is beautiful, the service excellent, and the food was good, but the restaurant suffers from its location at the intersection of two busy streets and the exhaust from passing cars and buses coming through the doors and windows. At night, the dimly-lit dining spaces were completely filled with tourists. I ordered the ropa vieja, which was not the best I've had in Cuba.

We had diner here for one night, mostly based on it's great reviews. Opinions may vary. This review is based on our experience. The location is nice as it is situated in one of the small streets in the city centre. When we entered the restaurant it gave us a vacation feeling. The thing with the food is: it's local cuisine. Off course there is such thing as 'taste', but we have to be honest about the Cuban cuisine. It's mainly rice, beans and pork. For us this was a bit dissapointing.hello, I regret not having fulfilled your expectations regarding the menu, I thank you have spent your time to comment on this site, thank you very much, I wish you health and good luck
