Reviews on Italian food in San Francisco, California, United States. Each of San Francisco's unique neighborhoods has its own collective personality shaped by its residents, topography and history. This diversity is one of the great hallmarks of the city, as well as its tradition for rebellion, and both make traversing San Francisco as a visitor an intriguing adventure that provides fresh discoveries for locals as well. While half of the city’s growth during the 19th century was due to the arrival of American immigrants, the balance was due to immigration from around the world. Today, the city's neighborhoods reflect this fact with their cosmopolitan flair and distinctive character.

Small, casual eatery for authentic Italian thin-crust pizza, house made pastas & other traditional Italian dishes.
When traveling from the UK, we had a meal here and everything was out of this world!! I was amazed with the food being cooked perfectly, staff was friendly and helpful. The whole experience was fantastic!

Lots of places say they have homemade pasta, but this place really does. You can see a lady in the kitchen continuously rolling out dough. My husband and I each had one of the daily specials. He had puttanessca fettuccine and I had sausage and mushroom parpadelle. Pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. Dinning room is very small. Seems like lots of locals were getting carry out. The only thing that would have made it better was if the seating was a little more comfortable and if they served alcoholic. Would have been great with a glass of wine. If we were here longer would go back again.

How disappointing! Ok, the food was good but there's more to a dining experience than food! The waiter was very impersonal. Like he just wanted to serve the food without any cordials. We told him it was our first time here and he just grunted! Shouldn't that have cued him to welcome us and make it a great experience? It also was so noisy that we could hardly talk. I felt I was with everyone else because I heard their conversations better than our own. This place had great review and came highly recommended. Again, while the food was good, we couldn't wait to leave. There are too many wonderful places in San Francisco, so this one is crossed off our list for next time.We appreciate your feedback. If you wouldn't mind, at your convenience, would you please give us a call at 415-928-1406, so we can further understand your experience. Thank you for your time.

This is a small place with a big heart and outstanding Italian food. The staff were friendly and helpful, even during the lunchtime crush. The food quality is excellent. Even when busy, a conversation with your friends can be heard at your table. I chose the Tortellini, and can recommend you do the same. This restaurant is a great choice for one of your vacation meals. Outdoor seating is available.

I visited Piccolo Forno with a group of friends while touring San Francisco. The restaurant is small with limited seating available, but the food was absolutely worth the wait. I ordered the 3 cheese tortellini and it was delicious. The pasta is handmade in the kitchen and you can tell from the very first bite. Giovanni waited on us and made us feel welcome during our visit. Highly recommend! From what I gathered, they are available via Grubhub and other food deliveries as well!

This is an extremely small place but I did not feel cramped or rushed. This place is packed but they seem to time things right as we only waited a couple of minutes for our table even after changing our reservation at the last minute. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The food just outstanding and the owners were delightful. It is one of the few restaurants that actually use real olive oil and it was excellent California EVOO. The wines were also excellent. Canât wait to return.
