A bright, and airy, no nonsense restaurant, just off the beaten track. We went on the strength of other reviews here. And we were not disappointed! The chef is italian who, like in italy, comes to your table himself to check all is ok. The ambiance is very much italian, and everyone seems to know each other. But we were still made to feel very welcome, and not like outsiders. The 'waitress' is in fact the italian chef's wife. And she was lovely and very helpful. A nice place if you want to avoid typical, rip off, touristy places full of tourists. And the food is delicious too (the pizza was like in italy). We saw the lady on the table next to us the next day - she was the owner of another café in the town... definately a good sign!

The food is excellent and the environment is very cozy. The owner is very attentions and kind. I had to wait for a table and he had offered a glass of wine while waiting. Small things that make the difference.Congratulations!

Walking around Provins at lunch time was not a happy occasion. There is a rather odd range of places along the main road leading to the Mediaeval old town including Chinese, Indian, cafe's and grim looking restaurants with menus that look as though they were handed down from a long lost relative. Just when we had given up hope of finding somewhere that would satisfy all of us we turned a corner and there was L'Osteria. Its not in the Mediaeval old town so probably doesn't cater to the tourists as much as to the locals and offers a range of Italian and French inspired dishes. I had a pleasant chicken salad, my daughter had a good pizza, my son some tagliatelle and my wife a well flavoured tagliatelle carbonara. If you find yourself in Provins at lunchtime (and I am sure the evening is OK as well) you would be well advised to eat here.
