Made it a point to visit this enoteca over all the others we saw in Mantova and was a little disappointed. The wines were ok but not outstanding (we tried two reds out of the three available) and were reasonably priced but the salami and cheese platter was a bit of a disappointment. We ordered the medium platter. There was only one type of salami (Mantovan) and one type of cheese (Gran Padano), some pickled fruit and crisped pork lard. While these seem to be typical of the region, they didn't wow us. Furthermore, we have been having salami and cheese platters quite often during our two week trip around Italy and this sort of paled against the stuff we have had in other provinces. I wouldn't say the quality was bad. The selection just could have been more varied.

"Al Torchio" Bigoleria is inspired at the ancient Italian taverns, where you could find tipical homemade pasta with traditional flavors and of course good wine. You'll find selected cheeses, cocktails and beers. Do not forget the sweets! WELCOME!!
Interesting... a place that specialises in Bigoli: a type of thicker spaghetti from the Vicenza area in Veneto but also eaten in eastern Lombardy. We came to visit Mantova and were looking for a place to eat something regional... and then this place caught my eye. Right from the initial phone call to book a table the people were very friendly. This place serves antipasti of salumi or cheese and Bigoli. You choose your sauce. They also have dessert, but that is it. We had a board of salumi (salame, pancetta and speck) that was delicious. Very good quality ingredients followed by the bigoli. The Carciofi and Pancetta Peppata sauce (artichokes and peppery bacon) was delicious as was the Radicchio and Monte Veronese (radicchio lettuce and a cheese from Verona) although this was bitter and a very adult taste which might not suit everybody. The service was quick and friendly: genuine smiles that warmed your heart. As a last tip: do check the toilet out. Beautifully done! ;-)An excellent place for an unrefined but very tasty meal. Hope to go back to Mantova for longer and who knows... a second visit!

The real gourmet pizza made with high quality ingredients. Special tastes: every week we suggest a different combination of tastes. Pizza Take Away in Mantua: a streetgourmet Pizza.
I had pizza from Crosta for takeaway on locals' advice. The dough was surprisingly good - crunchy at the bottom but soft, and light. The toppings were also tasty. I had some of the pizza with tuna and mushrooms, and some with prosciutto cotto. Everyone in my party was happy with the pizzas. I will be back when I am in town.

We had lunch twice in this amazing agroturismo and we loved it. The food is simple and tasty. The service is excellent. We would have loved to stay for dinner as well, but it was always closed.

A little off the beaten track but worth the walk: this restaurant serves excellent regional cuisine accompanied by Italian wines (although there are others on the extensive wine list). The maitre is friendly, the sommelier knowledable and all the other members of the staff display a high level of professionality. Our meal in the pleasant garden was relaxed -- the descrete waiter read our minds about a little pause before dessert -- and the perfect antidote to a dusty day of seeing the sights.

I can be short, we came here based on the superb 5 star votes on tripadvisor and we got the worst food of our holdays in Italy. The chicken was rock hard and extermely dry, the sauce that goes with tasteless, the winter salad that was served with it presented without any care. My partner ordered a pasta with meat that was of mediocre taste. Nobody dared to talk normally because of the poor acoustics in the place and lack of background music. The owner of waiter who served us was honest, since I returned the chicken we did not have to pay for that dish.

I came here with my family, including my 1 year old daughter. The place is nice and the menu immense! The staff is friendly but constantly in a hurry...they kept trying to take our plates away, but I'm not really sure why!We had linguine con carbonara di mare, being pasta with egg, tuna, and another fish. Massive portion and very tasty. The pizza was so so, slightly undercooked and a bit bland.. but that could be just my taste. House wine was ok and, to be honest, dessert was fabulous. The major downside was the pretty long wait. 80 euros for 4 people. Lovely to see that they have a play area for children. We'll probably be back.

A small restaurant a few kilometers away from the center of Mantua. Open on Monday! Do not forget to stop by the bar next door to have the best in the world Spritz. All the dishes we had were highly recommended and beautifully presented by friendly personnel. It was like eating at home! Ask for grappa - they serve an awesome one. Well worth a trip from Mantua!
