Reviews on Italian food in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Pittsburgh has been remade and reimagined. Think 24 miles of riverfront trails, beautiful parks and historic attractions. Home to 90 neighborhoods, the ‘Burgh feels authentic and unpretentious. No visit is complete without a trip to the Strip District or PNC Park, a ride up the Duquesne Incline or a stop at The Andy Warhol Museum. Architecture buffs love Pittsburgh for the amazing downtown buildings. Hollywood producers, do, too—the city has even been called the “Hollywood of the East."

Italian American restaurant, located in Pittsburgh's South Side neighborhood, serving Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. BYOB! Dinner reservations recommended. Our focus is Food & Family!!
First time at this small but relaxing atmosphere restaurant. White table cloths, kitchen in view as chef cooks, excellent service by Jenn, and really delicious food, even for a non-Italian that doesnt KNOW what REAL Italian food should taste like. My Veal Parm had a delectable sauce with tender veal medallions. Wife scarfed up her Chicken Marsala. Wedding Soup was noticably homemade. My mother (her birthday), the toughest critic, wanted the restaurants name so she could bring friends. Both my mom and wife really enjoyed the Tiramasu for desert which they said was so much better than in other Italian restauarants. Fresh warm bread with tray of olives, oil and a hummus like spread. as others have noted BYOB and CASH only , no credit cards or checks. Make a Reservation for dinner !!!

Highly recommended, but, very disappointingâ bought an entire bag of hazelnut biscotti on Saturday. Served Sunday morning for coffee with friends and terribly disappointed: no flavor! Very bland. Tasted like dry flour. I want my $8 back.

Over the last few years, I have enjoyed several business dinners at Alla Famiglia. On Thursday evening, our family took my Dad there for an early Fatherâs Day dinner. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner (almost 3 hours) with the following courses: a complimentary appetizer; fresh Italian bread; beans and greens with hot sausage; a terrific salad (included with the meal) served family style with greens, tomatoes, Italian olives, roasted red peppers and the option to add gorgonzola cheese on top; pasta with vodka cream sauce (included with the meal) also served family style; and, finally, the entrees. I recommend âupgradingâ the pasta course to the fettuccine prepared table side in a large wheel of parmesan cheese. My Dad enjoyed the speciality of the house veal chop. We also recommend a delicious seafood pasta and Chilean sea bass. Obviously, its all too much food but we were happy to depart with to go containers. The bill was pricey but well worth it. I suggest that its perfect for either a special occasion night out or a business meal. Alla Famiglia is still No. 1.

Last night we were shocked to be at Piccolo Forno at 6:30 PM to find many empty tables. Given our past years of experience, of course, we were wondering why. We have been regulars at Piccolo Forno since its inception, enjoying innovative cuisine prepared with imagination and quality. Our recent visit was a grave disappointment. Instead of refreshing salads featuring such ingredients as fennel (gone!) or ferro (gone!) was something called Salad Verte, This consisted of welted greens, a few radishes and cherry tomatoes that obviously has been prepared much earlier in the day. By the time 7:00 PM rolled around it was presented as just plain soggy and unappetizing. Gone are the delicious mushroom filled crepes and vegetarian pastas. Instead, we found dishes such as heavy Pittsburgh style meat lasagna and non-descript tasting mussels. Piccolo Forno has been our "go to" restaurant where previously we have eperienced fresh, tasty and unusual dishes. Not so anymore. Its choices now gravitate towards the mean. In quality it has decended to mediocrity. Out of nostalgia we will give it one more try. If the fare does not improve, we will mourn what Piccolo Forno use to be and move on.

I just had one of the best veggie omelets here. The portion is quite ridiculous... so so big that can easily be shared. They don't use pork products so skip the beef bacon. Beats the overpriced breakfast at the Westin by a mile. I ate inside and it was clean. Their coffee is good too. Thank you for good review we hope your next visit will be 5 star!!!

We made a reservation here for dinner on July 4th. We were at Station Square for a Gateway Clipper Fleet ferry tour and wanted to stay for fireworks, so this seemed perfect. Our family of four loves Italian food, so we had high expectations. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated on schedule. Our server was very pleasant, but provided mediocre service. Our entire meal took TWO hours. We got an appetizer (thank goodness) within a reasonable period of time, but our entrees took well over an hour to arrive. We only ordered a small bowl of spaghetti marinara, kid fettuccine Alfredo, and kid chicken Parmesan...thatâs it. By the time the entrees arrived, it was about 8:45pm and we had lost interest. The spaghetti marinara was disappointing anyway. The fettuccine Alfredo was tasty and the chicken portion of the chicken Parmesan was good. We left a lot of food behind and never considered dessert. Families at tables in our section were also disgusted at how long the food was taking to arrive. One couple (just TWO people!) told a server as they left that the food was fine but that they had been there for 2.5 hours and they found that unacceptable. They didnât appear understaffed...Iâm not sure what the issue was. The ambience was interesting with millions of interesting wall hangings to look at, but the air was stuffy and I was happy to finally get outside for fresh air after sitting inside for two hours without windows. Overall, I wouldnât return.Thank you, Johanna, for choosing to dine with us at Buca di Beppo.
