Walking up and down the main street, it is obvious there are plenty of tourist oriented, churn and burn places in Palm Springs with decent but not exceptional food. Not that this is all bad, but sometimes you want something better.Il Giardino offers authentic Italian dinners (no lunch) for those who appreciate the real thing. A husband and wife team own and operate this small storefront operation - she is the chef, he runs the front of the house. Service is cordial, personal, and informal. The menu is authentic Italian - a mix of pasta, fish, and other dishes. Even the salads are creative - try the orange, fennel, raisin and anchovy salad - a delightful, traditional Sicilian combination of flavors. Oven roasted branzino was perfectly prepared; for those who don't deal with whole fish, branzino filet was also on the menu. It was difficult to choose what to order - the standard menu was great, but the several evening specials sounded terrific. Only the Caesar salad was not exceptional - it was fresh and simple, but not other salad offerings sounded more interesting.Reservations are recommended - there is seating for less than 50 plus maybe 6 at the bar. The evening we were there, Il Giardino was nearly full while the big places on the main street were at 10-20%.

We took a chance on this restaurant based on TA reviews and it was kind of a let down. The service was great but we found the food was nothing special although in good quantity. I would put this restaurant as slightly better than Olive Garden by comparison. If you want something that tastes like homemade Italian I would hope there is better in PS. The complimentary bread and garlic butter is very good.

Al dente Trattoria Toscana - A quaint cucina with a decidedly European atmosphere, has served Palm Springs and an international clientele for over 20 years A cozy patio with twinkling lights is great for people-watching. Everything is homemade with the fre
We requested outdoor seating when making our reservation and unfortunately they couldn't accommodate that. Okay, the inside of the restaurant is quite airy so no big deal. Waitress was very friendly and quite personable. No chicken parm on menu (so sad). Ordered a few chicken dishes, all were just ok, nothing special. Should have ordered pasta instead. Desserts were ok, the Lemon Gelato dessert was the best. Food needs improving.

I made the reservation on open-table. I had requested a quiet table if possible, as I have hearing issues. The young woman greeted us and took us to a booth far in the back. Everything seemed great, water was brought promptly and calamari and drink orders taken. As we were reviewing the menu a man came to our table and informed us we had to move. There was going to be a banquet in this area and âunless we wanted to joinâ we had to move. (snide tone, no apology whatsoever). we found a table and our waiter finally found us with drinks in hand. Another server introduced himself and through no fault of his own was concerned to find us in his station. After we finished the calamari the bus boy came to take the plates. Both of our forks fell off the plates, crashed to the table and he just walked away and left them there. By the time we left shortly before 8 there was no-one in the âbanquet areaâ. We over tipped our server and I hope he finds a better place to work, because this place is a train wreck. Unless he is the owner, get rid of the small man with the ugly mustache. He does not belong in the service industry. I sincerely apologize for your inconvenience. The area was supposedly set up at least an hour before for a 8:00pm. party. Again we are sorry for your experience.

We had a great casual dinner, weather was perfect, service was great and food was tasty. Glad we made a reservation as the place was busy, waited a few minutes for our table. This restaurant is all outdoor seating, it works in Palm Springs as weather is generally always perfect. The setting is lovely, very lush, green and private. Itâs mainly Italian, pastas, salads and amazing pizzas. I personally was in the mood for chicken really enjoyed it and the roasted cauliflower was great!

First time at this restaurant and we ordered a 14" pizza (thin crust) with pepperoni, and sausage. It was mid-week and not a vacation time (although Palm Springs is winter is a vacation destination). The restaurant was nearly full but we were able to snare a table for two without waiting. Service was prompt. Food arrived without delay. Pizza was excellent with more than average amount of toppings and was not over-priced. We will return.

My husband and I had dinner with another couple at Sammy Gâs. The restaurant offered indoor & outdoor seating. We choose to eat outside as it was a beautiful night and loved the mountain & downtown views. The service was excellent; we werenât rushed and enjoyed having a leisurely dinner. The menu offered a lot of traditional Italian choices, everything was tasty!

Closing for the summer beginning June 30th. and reopening August 31st. This place is seasonally closed. It will reopen in August 30th. We won the Best of the Best for Italian the last 4 years by the Palm Springs Life reader's choice awards.
Yes, there's a Sinatra connection and it's genuine -- but if you can, forget that. This is a no-frills family-owned and family-friendly Italian restaurant of a style familiar to anyone who lives in, say, Chicago. In other words, it's a like big-city neighborhood joint. Prices are on the plus-side of moderate. My wife enjoyed her chicken piccata; my linguine in clam sauce (white, as both Frank and I prefer) was loaded with fresh little-neck clams and loaded with garlic, which always makes me smile. Salads are included. Drinks are generous. In sum: This is an honest restaurant.
