I had assumed this was more of a white tablecloth, refined place. It's pretty loud, including the waiters who walked right behind our table shouting to other servers. But let's start at the beginning. On a non-holiday Sunday night, my husband called for a last minute reservation a few hours away. They said nothing till 8:30. I said that seems ridiculous. So I called from my phone and got a reservation at 5:30. And we didn't need it anyway. We were celebrating so we looked at the wine menu. On one of the lists, it said just "Zinfandel" with no winery name attached to it. I asked server what winery is this and he said it is a red wine. I said I know that. Is it domestic, what winery is it from? He walks away and comes back with a bottle that I knew wasn't a Zin bottle and says this is the wine. I said no it's actually not. Then he got some more help and by then I picked out a bottle that was obvious what it was: B. R. Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon.People walked behind our table to get to another table even though there was an obvious aisle to traverse to other side. Our waiter asked if we were ready to order and we said not yet. Literally 10 seconds later a different waiter came over to ask for our order. I said 'are you our server now?'. He said no we all share the tables. But we never saw that guy again. The food was good. Seemed carnivore-scentric to us. We were also confused by the name, Carlos & Carlos which sounds like a Spanish or Mexican restaurant and, yet, it's Italian. We enjoyed our celebration, but likely not ever going back. Too loud and hectic. Felt no different inside than a chain restaurant such as a "Chili's" or the like.

This is not your grandparent’s neighborhood Italian joint. The spacious and contemporary interior does not show a hint of ethnicity apart from what’s on the menu. Only the exterior brick and a musty odor inside betray the building’s long history. The clever name (a play on the address—three-zero-two) is a clue of what’s to come. Our group was seated in a dining area that can accommodate overflow crowds or private banquets. It’s separated from the main dining room by the bar. Happy Hour was still in full swing and we had the option of ordering from the HH menu and/or the regular dinner menu. The former is a tremendous value—full-size portions of apps and pizza for considerably less than the dinner menu prices. Plus daily drink specials.Warm artisanal bread was even more delectable with sun-dried tomato bathed in olive oil spooned on. The calamari, Italian beef egg rolls, and the day’s “market inspired” soup (Italian bean) were excellent. We also loved Trezero’s wedge salad; the small version of this steakhouse classic was ample for two.Such a promising buildup heightened our expectations for the entrees, straightforward interpretations of Italian classics with an update or two. Most entrees include a side dish and portions are very generous. The salmon oreganata, chicken parmesan, veal saltimbocca, fettucine carbonara, and cioppino received enthusiastic thumbs-up. The overly salty gnocchi (with pork ragu) was inedible and was sent back to the kitchen. An Alfredo-like white wine sauce clung to the spaghetti underlying the shrimp scampi; this dish would have worked better if the pasta were instead sautéed in olive oil + garlic. Oddly enough, of three individual “sausage e pepe” pizzas ordered, one looked and tasted different than the others. Our cheerful servers were there when you needed something, but there were coordination glitches. Server #1 set a couple dessert menus on the table. Barely two minutes later, server #2 came to collect empty dishes and whisked those menus away. Spumoni (ask for it, it’s not on the menu) arrived promptly, but inexplicably it took 20 minutes for a lemon sorbetto to arrive.Hi Eric,So glad you and the Park District Crew enjoyed everything! Just wanted to clarify some of the entree concerns that you had. The Pork Sugo for the Gnocchi is slow braised for 6 hour to create an intense Pungent flavor. I am sorry that your guest did not enjoy it, but it is one of our best selling pasta dishes because of its complexities. A traditional Scampi includes Butter Olive Oil Garlic and Lemon Juice which is how we serve it, we do not add any Alfredo to it but the garlic butter does create a certain creaminess that is probably why you thought it was Alfredo. I am glad we were able to rectify her dish and make her a simple spaghetti with Garlic and Oil with Shrimp. As for the pizzas, one of those were ordered as a mushroom pizza, probably why it didn't look like the other one... Not sure if that was our mistake but I do aplogize... I am so glad you guys came out to give us a try and hope to see you all again!

We went during Happy Hour; got seated quickly - but when we left; the wine bar outside was packed and the line was nearly out the door to sit.People seem to go there for the wide selection of wine. With Happy Hour, we got the house wine - which was good, but not great - yet better than the house wine at most places. They have a good selection of appetizers; as a big party - we tried several - a nice bruschetta, hummus with carrots and cauliflower inside, carne asada flatbread. There were several other choices such as mexican egg rolls, crispy brussels sprouts, goat cheese flatbread - a decent variety beyond - maybe a dozen choices. The place is big; ceiling is easily 16' up - and can be noisy as it is a wide open atmosphere. For us, service was pleasant, fast, all questions answered - water refilled regularly, drink orders taken quickly - yet realize we "beat the crowd".Dinners ran a huge variety and were above average in size - can get meat, fish, vegetarian, chicken - all generally mixed with vegetables and some sort of sauce. Food was filling and tasty.

Had lunch here with business colleagues. Had a large pizza slice and side salad. Pizza slice was a generous size and tasty. They have a pretty extensive menu with some items needing to be baked such as calzones. The staff is very service oriented. Prices are reasonable for the size of the portions. I would definitely return.

My wife and I are from out of town; found this place on TripAdvisor. Blown away by the quality of the food. Haven’t had Italian food this good since we were in Italy. Appetizers: grilled baby octopus (so tender!) and burrata with antipasti. Entrees: spaghetti carbonara and involtini with rigatoni in a tomato sauce. Both pastas were amazing: pasta cooked perfectly, and sauces seasoned just right. We loved the ambience and the service. I would highly recommend this restaurant. This is not Olive Garden; this is the way Italian food should be.
