Catering for all palates (and appetites!), Dolomiti Italiano at the Alpine Retreat brings European mountain eating to the slopes of Mt Buller. Enjoy everything from authentic pasta and pizza to lesser-known flavours of the Italian Alps, perfectly paired w
Stopped in for a dinner one evening after finding the restaurant on a walk from the village. After being seated quickly, in a restaurant that wasn't too busy, we waited for another 20 minutes for our order to be taken( one lady standing behind a counter while the other took food out to tables, after dropping all the food off she came past and took our order) . Our order was simple, 1 entrée and two mains. We waited another 20 for the entrée to arrive. By this stage the restaurant had filled up, more orders were taken and food was being delivered.Thankfully the chef waved the cost of our entrée as the wait was far too long. It's a shame the service was slow as the food was well presented and tasted great. Our mains arrived shortly after finishing our entrée.Quite possibly the best Italian on the mountain.Would recommend even with the wait time we endured.
Whilst I have had the pleasure to enjoy some fantastic meals and the Carbonara at Tirol is great. But if you have been skiing / boarding at Mt Buller and if it was a "Rare Mt Buller" day that was a bit misty and windy, it must must be time for a guilty pleasure of "Chips n gravy". Fresh Hot cooked for each order magnificent with a soft drink, beer or even a coffee (Mrs Love the Kimberley likes the coffee).Let us be serious you do not even need to ski/board to Tirol you can catch the village shuttle to the Arlberg and walk upto Tirol. Also do not take your kids they will take but not eat the still crispy chips but with lots thick gravy. The kids can have wedges!
