Things to do in Montalbano Elicona

We are sraying at The Montalbano hotel in Sicily, which has no restaurant. Reception left leaflets in our room, but the majority seem closed or are too far away.Having driven to Etna and had a wasted trip (too wet) we headed back to change. I had read the reviews and had an idea of what to expect. On arrival we went into the bar area and asked if we could get a meal. A lovely young girl who spoke English, took us to a wooden extension to the right of the building. She got s table cloth, glasses and cutlery. She was friendly and helpful and explained the very small basic menu. Anti pasta, pastas, pizza and salads. We opted for macaroni with vegetables for me and meat for my husband. We both had beef (good) with a salad on the side. The tomatoes, were the best I have had so far in Sicily. We had a litre of water and one beer.We paid â¬35.50 it was fine, we were hungry. My only gripe was the TV being turned on really loud and the room was freezing as the door was open.If you want fancy, go elsewhere. If you just need food, its better than McDonald's.

We are more than a "restaurant", beyond the genuine ingredients coming from our campaign we combine the passion for a creative and innovative cuisine with many typical recipes where the main ingredient, the hazelnut, of which we are producers, will not be
We were the only people eating here which was a bit of a worry, but I think we might have been the only tourists dining in Montalbano that night. We were very pleasantly surprised and I would happily go back. The antipasto plate was really tasty and one of the best we had during our whole stay in Siciliy. Our mains were good and the dessert - a kind of hazelnut trifle - was delicious, all finished off with some generously offered samples of biscuits and other things based on the owners' hazelnut produce (very tasty!) We wished we had gone back to them the next night rather than going to the place next door. The owners were really lovely and courteous rather than effusive or interfering. They are anti plastic waste and it was good being given water in a glass, from a glass reuseable bottle. Simple changes that could make a difference to much of the plastic waste floating around Siciliy. More people catering to tourists could take a leaf from their book. Thanks Johanna for the kind words she has spoken to us! And thank you for having understood and disclosed our desire to respect and improve nature!

we had lunch with kids and friends (9 people). Starters are quite expensive (⬠10) compared to primi piatti (⬠7).Correct quality and normal portions.

You, oh visitor, need only arrive in Casale, at a mere 4 kilometers from Basicò, once known as Casale Novum, and 8 kilometers from Montalbano Elicona, elected the âmost beautiful village in Italyâ, where you will be able to breathe-in centuries of history
This was one of the best restaurants i have experienced here in Sicily! the food was amazing and the staff was amazing and not to mention the beautiful view of the country side. It was a very nice escape from some of the larger cities in Sicily. The restaurant itself was beautiful and all the features were hand made. We got a wonderful tour of the property before sitting down to dinner. They had a wide range of food and even catered to the food needs of little children. It was an overall wonderful experience and we will for sure be back!Thank you for your words, it was a pleasure to have you in our restaurant! Hope to see you soon. Monilia del Casale

This rustic restaurant is ideal to savor the local specialties from this mountainous region of Sicily. I highly recommend their appetizer, which includes an amazing selection of local cheeses as well as classic Sicilian dishes like Caponata and deep fried fennels. Their porcini ravioli were excellent and served with abundant and delicious local porcini. Their mixed grilled meats are hearty and full of flavor. The execution is simple, relying on the ingredients rather than fancy preparation. I could not believe the bill: 48 euros for four of us!

Fascinating views, excellent food, and great service! I always visit this family owned restaurant when I'm on the island. It's views of the old village and castle of Montalbano are exceptionally breathtaking! if you like history, culture and great food this restaurant will satisfy your needs.

In the village of villages in 2015, Il Gelso offers traditional cuisine, with typical local dishes. Masterpiece is the first cours/apetizer which consists in about 13 courses that allow you to taste a little of what distinguishes our territory.
We were a party of 13 and had heard that this Agriturismo restaurant would give us a great experience of the local cuisine and it certainly lived up to its reputation. We were surprised by the massive portions and the prima pasta dish was huge, so ensure you have a good appetite when you arrive! The starter (prima pasta) consisted of a very large platter for each person with cuts of local meats, including salami, prosciutto, and local cheeses. The was followed by pasta dishes of tortelli and spaghetti with a pork sauce. The main course followed was a huge plate of mixed grill of lamb and pork with local sausages and roasted potatoes and a green salad. We were so full by this time that we couldn't order any of the sweets on offer! We finished with coffee and a local digestive . The local wine was excellent and served in stone carafes of red and white wine - excellent. We staggered back to our hotel having enjoyed an excellent dining experience and the best possible service and attention to our demands from the lovely Mariacristina - thank you for making our visit so enjoyable!
