Medvode (pronounced [mɛˈdʋoːdɛ] ( listen); German: Zwischenwässern) is a town and a municipality in Slovenia. The Sava and Sora rivers join in Medvode, from which the town's name (which means 'between the waters') is derived. Two large factories, Color and Donit, are based in Medvode. The Sava River at Medvode is also the location of the Medvode Hydroelectric Power Plant. After the Second World War, a Yugoslav labor camp for political prisoners operated in Medvode.

The food is delicious and there are so many different varieties of foods. From pastas to pizzas to steaks. The people that work there are very friendly and serve the food really quick ! The restaurant itself is very cosy and quite specious. The prices are very good and the food is even better. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did !!!

Last month, after a whole day enjoying the attractions of Ljubljana's Historic Center, my wife and I had a nice meal at this restaurant. Its ambiance is rather unusual, sort of a dark wine cellar, somewhat noisy, and full of young people, probably students from the nearby University.We ordered a couple of soups, and two glasses of white wine. All were just fine. The surprise came with our pizzas, the Sailor's one for my wife and the Napoleon for me. Both were nicely prepared full of good ingredients, on a nice light dough, and baked to perfection. By the way, the table mats will tell you the size of the medium pizzas, about 12 inches in diameter. Our waiter spoke excellent English, and answered all our questions. Even more, he graciously agreed to use his mobile phone and ordered a Taxi for us to go back to our hotel.No doubt, FoculuS is the place to have a light meal of sorts when you feel the need for a change from the usual meat heavy cuisine in Slovenia.

Atmosphere is cosy, menu is quite extensive so you can find anything you like. They have vegetarian options too. I ate a salad with oyster mushrooms and vegetarian pizza - both were delicious. Friendly staff, good for a family meal. They have enough space, but it can get crowded during lunch hours so maybe reservations are not a bad idea.Dear 229natasa33, thank you so much for your wonderful review and hope to see you again soon :)

I was positively supprised by the taste of the pasta. The ingredients were of highest standard/quality and all mixed together in a way that made a dinner really nice experience.Did not yet taste any other dishes but I can definitely recommend this for all the pasta lovers.Will be back for sure.

In the motel Medno, just off the main Ljubljana-Kranj road there have been many different restaurants over the years. The latest incarnation is Bufalaf a supposedly Neopolitan style restaurant which I visited recently.This is not a huge restaurant and on a Sunday afternoon it was busy though not full. It took a long time before someone came and we could order drinks and a long time again before we ordered food. Eventually we did get our side orders. My Italian side dish of marinated grilled vegetables was tasty enough but the few thin slices of vegetables were morel like a garnish than a side dish costing just under 5 euros. The caprese salad was, apparently, quite good.My husband's main dish of three meats came next. This was three dried up lumps of very unappetising meat served on a couple of lettuce leaves. I was told it tasted as good as it looked. He had finished his meal before I got my fish. This should have been fresh baked fish with potatoes. It turned up looking either boiled or steamed in a watery sauce with a few wafer thin slices of potatoes. The potatoes were undercooked but I was hungry so tucked into the fish. I had eaten half before the smell of the fish got to me and I could eat no more. I know fish does occasionally smell a little but this stank. Not one to complain, however, I just left it but when the waiter asked how the fish was I told him. There was no apology but I was told the fish was only two days old. Two days going on three or four, it is irrelevant if the fish has not been kept properly. My guess is it had been hurriedly defrosted and inadequately cooked, hence the long delay in its arrival. To be totally fair the glass of wine I had was good and very reasonably priced and it is possible that the pizzas are very good. My experience, however, was not favourable and as I lay awake that night feeling quite nauseous I was reminded of the advice of, if I remember rightly, Anthony Bourdain, never to order fish if it's on a daily special.

special place above the gorge of the river, by a bridge - at the entrance to the old town of Å kofja Loka, exceptionally cozy place, sat outside just to sample something small from their menu and enjoy observing the evening promenaders passing by. Had a ken sum (or something like that), and an ale from a local (Loo-blah-nah) brewery - a perfect dinner. Will definitelly return to try more from the menu ;)

This place is located outside Ljubljana's ring but trip there is worth it. They serve good food, mainly Italian dishes are great. Interior is nice with nice terrace as well. Same owner has many venues in Ljubljana, like fine-dining place Strelec inside castle
