Authentic Italian restaurant, owned by chef Sergio Crivelli, winner of the Gluten free Pizza World Championships in 2012. In 2013 he was awarded the "OSPITALITÃ ITALIANA" (comparable to one Star in the Michelin Guide). We are renowned for: homemade pasta;
Sergio prepared a delicious Shitake ( fresh ) and Black Truffle Risotto tableside in a huge cheese wheel. The Food was very delicious and the service was exceptional. The atmosphere of this hidden gem is cozy, interesting and inviting. We were looking forward to an Italian lunch with friends and were so pleasantly surprised and delighted to have been a guest at this wonderful establishment. I want to become a " frequent regular" at this place. Thank you again Sergio for such a wonderful experience.Hello, norieinportland!Thank you so much for your kind words. Italian food and pizza accompanied by good wine and a pleasant atmosphere, come and meet us near the Matosinhos beach.
Once upon a time the smaller pizzeria was a lovely place to go, with quality and a reasonable price.Today it became an industry.It is more the time spent on the social networks boasting relationships with soccer stars than that to manage the pizzeria.A big mistake to be so boasting and to have totally crazy prices.I found not only one, but two pizzerias that have equivalent or better quality with less than half of the prices, all with original Italian ingredients.

I am very happy I made a reservation at Casa da Foz a good couple of weeks before we travelled to Porto as they were incredibly busy! I came across this restaurant when researching where to eat in Porto and I am very happy I did, our party of 8 had the most superb meal and our waitress was an absolute gem in looking after us. The caprese salad, the focaccia garlic bread, the lasagna and all the pastas are delicious! The ice pie for dessert is a must! It is served with the most delicious homemade chocolate sauce. In fact all the desserts are amazing! This was by far our favourite meal during our entire stay in Porto! Ensure you book with plenty of notice.

I cannot say that the pizza here is as good as in Italy because we were luck enough to visit Paestum in Italy and eat a pizza at Ristorante da Nonna Sceppa which is indescribably good. However we have to say that the pizza at Il Fornaio 178 exceeded our expectations. It is really gooood! We also highly recommend the tartufo for dessert. The service is friendly and attentive. We are happy that we found out this gem outside the touristic area.Hello cia2travel, thank you so much for your evaluation. It is gratifying to know that we are able to convey the experiences we want. For us the priority is and always will be the satisfaction of our customers. Thank you very much and hope to see you soon,The Il Fornaio team
