Slovenia, wedged between Austria and Italy, has always been proud of its unique heritage. The capital, Ljubljana, is a perfect example of this blend of German, Mediterranean, and Slovenian culture. The old town is a blend of Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau buildings, watched over by a medieval castle. Cut through the gardens of Tivoli Park to the National Museum of Contemporary History for a history of modern Slovenia, featuring crumbled statues of Stalin and a recreation of a WWI trench.

We really enjoyed a leisurely dinner this evening at Paninoteka. We had the liver and onions, pasta with smoked salmon and Sun dried tomatoes, and lamb with dumplings .All were delicious, and very generous portions. The best part was our waiter Klemen. He gave very good service and made our dining experience fun. A memorable evening!

This restaurant offers cold dishes only, but serves really excellent Slovenian prosciutto and speck and salami of the best quality, with amazing wine pairing if you trust the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. But do not forget to taste the Malvazija, a Slovenian white of very high quality and a perfect company for the Slovenian ham, speck and salami. A great place to eat, to lounge, or to have a souper. Great value for money and a place you must visit! If only we could stay longer In Ljubljana.

In the middle of Ljubljana, only two steps away from all the tourist attractions, there is one of the most visited places in the city - pizzeria FoculuS. The name of the pizzeria is a tribute to exceptional history of the location - the Latin word "foculu
It was pouring with rain, so we were pleased that this place existed. A huge vaulted space with interesting paintwork. The staff were friendly and efficient. Excellent selection of beers, and an enormous choice of pizzas. The pizzas were terrific, thin, crisp base and generous topping. The constant 80s video backing felt nostalgic, but didnât harm our enjoyment. Great value.

First pizzeria in Ljubljana serving Neapolitan pizza.
There are lots of places serving wood-fired pizza in Ljubljana, but this one is a bit out of the pedestrian tourist zone in the Poljane neighborhood. Itâs worth the extra short walk to check out what some people say is the cityâs best pizzeria. In some ways itâs a victim of its own popularity because all of the tables in the two small dining rooms were either occupied or reserved on a Friday night at 6pm. A waitress sat us down at a reserved table and said we had an hour to eat before the reservation showed up. Service was a bit casual but all was forgiven when the pizzas showed up. Generous amount of fluffy burrata and other cheeses on my primavera, my companionâs pie was paved with cured ham. The crust manages to be soft and crispy at the same time, with the distinctive black dots marking it as truly Neapolitan. The waiter finally smiled when we said how much we liked it. No beer on tap, only craft and local beers in bottles. Pizza was 5 stars and I would definitely come back with a reservation for the front room next time.

We popped in one hour before closure. Waitress went out of her way to get a table, very welcoming and was quick to get our order. We ordered our pizzas, and they came out within 10 minutes. Amazing! The pizzas are perfectly thin with a generous amount of toppings. The value, food and service are all great. Highly recommend.

Atmosphere is cosy, menu is quite extensive so you can find anything you like. They have vegetarian options too. I ate a salad with oyster mushrooms and vegetarian pizza - both were delicious. Friendly staff, good for a family meal. They have enough space, but it can get crowded during lunch hours so maybe reservations are not a bad idea.Dear 229natasa33, thank you so much for your wonderful review and hope to see you again soon :)

We came here on our first night in Ljubljana, but we are planning to go back, since the pizza was really really good. Huge pizza with amazing dough, great and friendly service, we can only recommend it. We had tried the one with prosciutto and one with raw beef slices and rocket. Both were super tasty, maybe the best pizza we ever had. Value is also great, these pizzas were EUR 11 each, if I remember correctly. Also, the service was really quick.Dear Zsófia P, thank you for your visit and a very kind review. Please, visit us again soon and try some of our amazing pasta, salads and desserts too. Have a nice day! Team Capriccio
