Things to do in Leon
Food was great and price very reasonable. We had wine and a complimentary tapa before dinner and then split an order of caponata as an appetizer and it was fabulous. We each had a pasta main course. My husband had the fruit di mare and I had a truffle pasta that was amazing. We split a bottle of wine and then coffee with a total bill including the wine before dinner of less than $70 euro. If we were here another night we would return. The tables are very romantic in an old roman cellar. Totally recommend this restaurant

A warm, inviting family-run restaurant situated 5 minutes from El Corte Ingles in the heart of León. Everything on the menu is excellent but the pizzas deserve a special mention as they are by far the best in León. That's partly due to the excellent thin, crispy bases and because they use mozzarella not the local cheese, cabrales that many others do.I moved here from London 3 years ago and have tried just about all the restaurants in León, this is my favourite. The husband and wife team running Piccolo are very friendly and always find time to make menu suggestions even though the place is always busy. Consequently, you need to allow 10-15 minutes fro the food to be served but it's well worth the wait.Other recommendations are the calamares as a starter, the salads are all good and the escalope (which I don't think appears on their new menu but is still available). This is not a flashy restaurant. The interior is comfortable with a huge painting of Venice on the main feature wall. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Why oh why? Well there are a plethora of reasons for not choosing to dine here and one perhaps that will persuade you to do so. First the one that may persuade you. If you are happy being served by a waiter who seems to be on speed and are delighted by getting large portions then this may be your Shangri-La. Go and enjoy.I am one who enjoys large portions, but also edible ones. I love food and have a reasonable idea how it should be prepared and served. The speed at whichever we were served was impressive, but sadly in a negative manner. We were first served a salad which consisted largely of shredded carrot obscuring a bowl of iceberg lettuce dotted with pickled onions, gherkins and strange square slices of processed ham. On top was half a boiled egg divided into four sections. It was not unattractive except to those who carrot is not their absolute favourite salad ingredient. Basically a boring salad with some pretty powerful undertones.Whilst I eat extremely quickly (boarding school habits) I was unable to outrun our speed assisted waiter who managed to bring the main courses when we had only managed to eat around half of the salad. On mentioning this to him, he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say what do you want me to do about it? This was not due to a language barrier as we are both fluent in Spanish and quite capable of making ourselves understood. The meals which we were served, a calzone and a lasagne, were both over cooked to the point of being burnt. One can only imagine how fast we would have been served if we had been brought them at their optimum; perhaps ahead of the salad!Sadly over-cooking was not the only downside to our selection. The person responsible for the distribution of the pizza ingredients prior to folding the calzone (not meriting the term chef) should be taught that both the cheese and the other delicacies should be evenly spread and not clumped into two distinct areas so that the possibility of cutting a slice with a cross section of the flavours one would expect is within the normal person's reach and anticipation and not just restricted to those who can stuff a quarter of a pizza in their mouth in one go. I can, by the way, but the sight is not pretty and should certainly be reserved for home dining only.Turning to the lasagne. Perhaps we made a mistake asking which of the lasagnes could be recommended. The recommendation received was the verde, an innocuous suggestion perhaps and supported by the fact it has more béchamel sauce. The béchamel sauce was not quite so innocuous; the flavour was fine, but the consistency was of blancmange or a poorly mixed wallpaper paste with some dubious undertones of flour. The portion was generous and had it not been burnt on top and texturally challenged it might have been ok. As it was, it wasn't!I would like to comment on the desert, but as we did not dare test anything so rash we shall leave it to the reader's imagination. On the table next to us they did order an ice lolly. Possibly from previous experience! We did read the reviews on trip advisor before going and can only apologise to those who had taken the time to warn us, a warning we really should have headed.Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but those who consider this to be a good quality Italian restaurant are, in my opinion, in need of experiencing life outside of León. I'm sure there must be worse Italian restaurants in the world, but thus far I have been fortunate enough not to have experienced one.

Nice selection of traditional tapas and Italian food - good service, a lovely restaurant downstairs and not expensive.

Italian pizzeria restaurant Vespa 50 León,León itâs most authentic Italian pizzeria restaurant, specializing in pizzas and italian cuisine.
After walking around the downtown are of Leon we found La Vespa. There were a few tables outside and one was available. We ordered pizza and beer. Then we ordered another pizza and beer. Needing to use the bathroom I walked into a fully packed restaurant with all the aromatic smells of Italy and people with plates of pasta and salads on their tables. It was a small slice of Italy in Spain.

Starter was too small, aubergine with cheese, good but nothing special, and it was heated it up in the micro. Meat is quite good. We ordered a 500gr cut of meat that was pre grilled in the kitchen and you had to finish it up at the table. They brought a hot stone plate for it but sadly it cooled down quite fast and we had to ask them to bring another one... and wait. A bit severe on the sides, not sauce and only a "sample" of baked potatoes that were cold and dry, shame.... They gave us olive oil to put on the plates... I think a bit pointless to be honest.Dessert: Panacota and cheese cake was tasty, sadly the Tiramisu was not sweet at all, maybe they forgot the sugar? Nespresso coffee and two shots of Lemoncelo. We ordered two glasses of red, no description in the menu (it said waiter will suggest) but she just poured Rioja without asking and that was a bit disappointed, although it was an ok wine. The italian waitress, I guess the owner, she is really nice and friendly but the other one was not enjoying herself and you can see it easily. To sum up: Plenty of room to improve but if they do, it will still be there in a couple of years, Good luck!

Pizza artisan. Possibly the best pizzeria in Leon. Friendly service. Guisseppe, owner of Neapolitan origin is lovely, the place, especially in summer, very good to go with kids in winter and feel the heat from the wood oven.
We arrived here when it was completely full. We decided to wait it out in hopes that a table would open up and it did. LUCKY US. Even with the large language barrier our waiters were extremely patient and helpful. The pizza was delicious and the ingredients were fresh. We were so happy with our experience I went inside to give my compliments. I received a full on man hug and gratitude for my efforts. We will always return here when back in Leon.

Homely restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine.
Ate here twice while in Leon. Pizzas were amazing! Absolutely the best I have had. the baked Provolone was also terrific. Pleasant atmosphere. Located in a small alley with a view of the Cathedral it was an absolutely charming and peaceful experience with many locals coming and going by. The two people who run it are also very very nice and take good care of their customers. Prices extremely reasonable. Will definitely eat here again when I return next year.Dear Lotis. Thank you very much.It has been a pleasure to serve you in the Piccola Stanza. We are looking forward to next year. Best wishes.
