It was just a quiet Anniversary lunch in a relatively small restaurant, but it was all class. The elegant surroundings exuded the world of Italy, there was good table separation and the waiters were attentive and friendly with no trace of obsequiousness. There were Interesting food specials alongside an already very good menu and an excellent selection of wines - by the glass or bottle. Our antipasti was interesting, my fillet steak and my wife’s King George whiting were cooked to perfection and the servings were of good size. The timing of the courses was perfect - neither too slow, nor too quick - and one felt one was being carefully looked after. The restaurant was recommended by a relative from Perth who dines at Scopri when in Melbourne. He must envy us living so close. We shall return.

This is an unpretentious but impressive place. It deserves its current score of four. It’s not an impressive space. It’s a little cramped to be honest. But, physical limitations are cancelled out by the food which is very impressive indeed. Our antipasto starter was lovely. The prosciutto was as good as I’ve ever had and equal to it better than that that I’ve tried several times in its country of origin. It was strikingly good. The two pastas we had were also extremely good. The pizzas others had looked lovely too. They were eagerly devoured by those who had them. This place was well patronised and is a local favourite. On what we saw here tonight, we can understand why. Have not a doubt we’ll return.

First time visitor and since we are always on the hunt for new places to experience this Italian eatery fit the bill. Very good reviews on Trip Advisor convinced us it was worth trying.Quite small but intimate place on busy Burgundy street. There are no bookings mid week but not sure about weekends. We got a table with no issue and were warmly greeted by the owner. I believe the menu/set up has changed recently, we were told that it was a "tapas" style menu, with the individual food items neatly displayed near the bar. I've been to Barcelona & Milan several times so I personally love this type of experience and at $3.50 per item you simply choose which of the many food items you want and they bring it out to your table. You can order some things from a blackboard but it really caters for people that like to try things first then go up again if they want more. They have a great little drinks menu, quite a few beers and some very good wines by the glass. My wife & I both had the Rose from the Yarra valley and it was excellent. The food was excellent, everything we tried we liked, not complicated food, just wholesome tasty and light. For us this is definately somewhere we will come back to. I would imagine that on weekends it could be very busy but it isn't the type of place you would typically sit down for hours so they could turn the tables over quickly.

il Borgo is located in a street with many Italian restaurants and pizza outlets but... if you want a great meal with authentic Italian wines and service then this place is excellent. The couple who own and operate this restaurant are delightful and the food is really fabulous. I can’t wait to back and bring more friends and have another great evening. Thank you so much for your amazing review, we are very glad you enjoyed your experience with us. See you soon then! :)

Italian and Mediterranean Cuisine providing fresh seasonal dishes in Ivanhoe's historic fire station. Function rooms available catering from 12 to 40 people.
This restaurant located in the Old Ivanhoe Fire Brigade Station, is a great place to visit, from the moment you walk in the door you get a good feeling, the décor is good and the ambience excellent. The restaurant comprises 3 rooms, so you don't get the feeling of being in a large open area. the staff are very friendly and helpful and provide a good standard of service. The choice of food is great, going from the very good Pizza selection to the share dishes and main courses. I recommend the Spring Lamb dish which was terrific, being a combination of Lamb cutlets just cooked to perfection, nice and pink, plus a serving of slow cooked lamb shoulder. Also very good was the whole baked flounder. The wine list is very good and reasonably priced. Also what I find important was the toilets were very clean. I will be putting this restaurant on my must go to again list.

The food was good, the experience disappointing. Our three course meal was served in under ONE HOUR, despite the request for some time between courses. The tables were so close that on two occasions the waitress placed her backside on our table. The owner and front of house is moody, mainly rude.I have since found an alternate local Italian restaurant and will be going there in the future.

A venue where the food is about the authentic Italian flavours using seasonal produce, featuring impressive Italian and Aussie wine list and impeccable service. It was an experience that was memorable and gastronomically satisfying. It was not difficult to see why this establishment has won many awards.

This friendly and family owned and operated restaurant care about their customers and deliver delicious food. They have a very clear understanding of catering for someone who’s Coeliac - first hand. They also understand fructose intolerance. The staff will help guide you though what’s possible if food intolerances are part of your life. The dishes are quite large as is quite normal with Italian restaurants, the flavours are lovely. Have eaten here a few times over the last 4 years, always delightful.Thank you fifiB07! We understand the frustration that those with dietary requirements face when eating out.
