Hadn't been to Rome's Pizza in a year or two. Had a Groupon so stopped recently. They did some serious renovations that partitioned the formerly large eat in restaurant to a pint size, crowded, low service take-out pizza joint. No longer has the same feel. Maybe the rent was too expensive for the large space they were in, but that was the charm. Gone are the great lunch specials, old menu and comfortable eating space. I dont think I'll be returning. Marco's Pizza in nearby Helotes serves up a better Pizza.

A few of us stopped in here to check it out. The place is very small, only two tables and a bench. There was a line and it only got longer as there was only one person waiting on the customers. He was very friendly but it took way longer than it should have. I would have given them another point but when another staff person asked to help out they were told to go on home. In my opinion when you have 8 people waiting in line and there's hardly room to stand, you need more help. I was surprised when he didn't take her up on her offer and get the line moving as most people were getting the desserts to go and it was congested and it would have been faster with 2 servers. Otherwise the place is cute and the pricing seemed high but I've never bought this type fare before so since so many customers were eagerly buying it, I guess it was normal price for it. They do have water for only a dollar a bottle and others bottle drinks.Hello there! Thank you for taking the time to review our little shop. It may surprise you, but I remember your party. I sensed your annoyance when I dismissed my employee, and I certainly understood your frustration. I don't want to discount or minimize your concerns in any way. We were extremely busy. We could have certainly benefited for some extra hands that afternoon. With that said, as you are the only review on TripAdvisor, I would like to offer a bit of context for people who might be considering visiting our shop.Congelato opened our doors less than three months ago. In that time we have been humbled by the response from our community. It has always been our intention to have a shop dedicated to excellent Geltato and uncompromised customer service. We are a tiny shop, with a great big heart. People frequent our area to enjoy the canopy of trees, dirt pathways, and relaxed pace. They appreciate the fact that we utilize all compostable/recyclable serviceware, donate a portion of our profits back to local schools, and offer discounts to military, first responders, law enforcement and public school teachers, not to mention our amazing assortment of Gelato and Sorbetto. The day you visited our shop was our busiest day ever. It came out of nowhere and honestly, we weren't prepared for it. I am extremely thankful that our patrons were patient, courteous, friendly and understanding. The only thing more important to me than my customers, is my family. The employee I sent home was my wife and partner. She and my daughter had been at the shop since early in the day, and I wanted them to get a quick break and a bite to eat. There was no good time, as we were standing room only from the time we opened, till the time we closed. The first thing I did the next day was reach out to potential employees to help avoid such a situation in the future. They say you cant please all people, all the time. We are just naive enough to try. It breaks my heart that your experience was less than satisfactory. Out of many dozens of reviews, over multiple platforms, 3 stars is our worst. We find this to be completely unacceptable. All we ask is for another opportunity to change your mind. Next time you are in the area, come back in. If you feel that your experience is subpar, I will buy your gelato. To anyone interested in visiting Congelato, I encourage you to check Google, Instagram, Facebook, and Yelp for additional feedback and reviews. It is our company policy to never edit, delete, or otherwise manipulate any review. Outside of TripAdvisor, 4.9 stars is our lowest cumulative customer score. More importantly, please note what our customers have to say about our service.Again, thank you for your business and your feedback. I truly hope to see you again soon. From our family to yours, much love! Have an amazing day.
Where to eat Bar food in Helotes: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Our friends love this pizza place but we were under impressed. The crust was not a true New York style but was very chewy, undercooked and doughy. We ordered a very expensive ($10+) antipasto salad. It was swimming in olive oil. We brought it home and even with the additions of more spices, vinegar ect. we couldn't improve the taste. We also ordered an Italian sub. The bread was tasteless, it was swimming in oil and the lunch meat and cheese didn't have much taste. Worst part was the sandwich was $10 too... We were very much under impressed and won't be back.. what topped offour experience was they didn't offer any military discounts.

Had a great experience at this restaurant. We were celebrating two of our friends birthdays and Jacob did an outstanding job. Not only was the service quick and efficient but he accommodated us having a birthday cake delivered at the perfect moment. Unlike other restaurants who charge a "plate fee", they allowed us to bring our cake in and provided us the proper utensils to partake. As a bonus, many of our meals were buy one, take one home, so it was an added bonus to all. I would definitely recommend visiting and if you have Jacob serving you, tell him we said hi and job well done!

It's always a good time going out to eat Pizza and Grimaldi's is no exception. The atmosphere is open, appealing to the eye and not so noisy that you can hear your neighbor loud and clear. The pizza comes Hot, crunchy and delicious. I like a pizza where the cheese slaps you on the chin, this is not one of them. The salads are really good and the beer pretty cold. Located in La Cantara mall Grimaldi's is a local hit and is popular with the locals.
