Reviews on Italian food in Goma, North Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Goma is the capital city of North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located on the northern shore of Lake Kivu, next to the Rwandan city of Gisenyi. The lake and the two cities are in the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift system. Goma lies only 13 to 18 km due south of the crater of the active Nyiragongo Volcano. The recent history of Goma has been dominated by the volcano and the Rwandan Genocide of 1994, which in turn fuelled the First and Second Congo Wars. The aftermath of these events was still having effects on the city and its surroundings in 2010. The city was captured by rebels during the M23 rebellion in late 2012, but has since been retaken by government forces.

You won't regret coming to Il Rasentino. Perhaps the best Italian food I've had in the DRC. The meals are prepared faster than most places I've been and the quality is superb. Try the pizza - the crust is soft and the taste will make you want to come back again. The prices are very reasonable and the staff have great customer service. The balcony offers a nice view of Goma, especially at sunset. You won't regret coming here for a meal.

Near the Ihusi hotel, Le Volcan is a fun hangout place to watch sports, play some pool and have some great food. The environment is perfect - not too loud or crowded. The service is excellent and there are plenty of meal options to choose from. I personally enjoyed their beef biryani dish as well as their chicken tikka. I wish we had this variety of options with efficient service and affordable prices back in Kinshasa. Good Indian food. Cold beer. Some of the staff are not trained at all and lazy-kind of sitting around. The chef is more competent in terms of table service than the waitresses. Food is lovely. Except the burger. Good place for a pub-ish night out with a soccer game.
