We have stayed at this excellent Agritourist on a number of occasions on our way South and also when returning North, this is the fist time we have not been there other than on a Monday or Tuesday when the restaurant is closed. We booked the restaurant, there are limited covers so I think it is necessary, particularly at weekend. The service is delightful, the surroundings ideal and the food as good as I have had anywhere, it is local produce, home made, perfectly cooked and presented, wine is by bottle or glass. All of it was absolutely perfect, just managed a photo of the beef before we finished it off. Don't worry if you don't understand Italian there is no written menu the choices (limited) are given to you just say yes you will not be disappointed. Needless to say I will now be ensuring I am there on opening days and I have already booked for a Saturday in August

Our chosen accommodation, the local agriturist, had a restaurant that shuts monday and Tuesday so we ventured into town which on the whole appeared to be shut. By chance and with the help of a local we found this. First class antipasta all freshly cut with lovely aubergine roasted, then rabbit with olives accompanied by roast potato. All excellent with 75 cl of red wine and a frizzante water all came to 59⬠No complaints, would go againHound welcome - closed Tuesdays

This roadside restaurant cannot be faulted. We found it by chance at lunchtime after a weary drive from Torino on the motorway. The atmosphere is modern and welcoming, the service quick and the food, simple, perfectly executed in the best tradition of the cuisine from the Piacenza region. We envied the people who go there everyday for their lunch break.

This review is not going to make the osteria owner very happy, however, the visit to the restaurant has been, unfortunately, one of the most unpleasant events in our recent trip to Northern Italy. Let me say from the start - I do NOT enjoy writing a negative review, but what happened was simply over the line - upfront apologies for the long story. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage kids - my wife came across Osteria Bottega Garibaldi online, we all liked the environment and were impressed by the reviews. So we drove over the evening of June 20 and sat on the porch with a decent street view. The waitress was a lovely young woman with some knowledge of English (no trace of that language in the menu though), so with little help of the online dictionary, we ordered a tartar steak and wine for starters and, since one puts in their own condiments there to taste, all was going rather well. Until the other dishes came in. My wife had some kind of eggplant with shrimp and the kids, hungry as any teenager would be at 8 PM, had cacio e pepe spaghetti and gnocchi. I ordered the seafood pasta, which arrived with an impressive little crab on top and everything looked quite good. Then there was the first bite of pure burning salt. After a big gulp of water, half another bite confirmed that, so I asked everyone else at the table how their food was. To my amazement, ALL of it was very, very salty! As I mentioned, the kids were hungry and did not want to reorder, so they struggled with portions of what they could swallow, my wife battled the melanzane for some time and gave up, and I simply returned my plate untouched. The waitress grew concerned, brought in the menu again and tried to help me reorder, but after 4 salty plates, I decided not to risk anything else and called for the bill.To my shock, the returned dish was on it! Simply not right and although 14⬠is not a big dip, it is a matter of principle IMHO. We have dined in most of North America and the EU and there have been a few occasions, where dishes needed to be returned or exchanged. It is a simple restaurant rule, that those are taken off the bill, straight and simple. But not here. We spoke to the waitress, who said she, unfortunately, cannot do anything and 'the boss' will be called in. And then all hell broke loose - a tall woman in a black jacket stormed out of the hall and stared a huge and loud recital in Italian. My wife understands the language a bit, I know a few words, the waitress tried to help with some limited vocabulary and between the screams and gestures we finally figured out, that this was indeed the chef! Mad as hell, fortunately - unarmed, and in the most foul mood possible. According to her, the seafood was fresh, and salty, and nothing were to be done about that!... We did counter politely, that ALL 4 dishes were exceptionally salty, but she went on about salt being a personal perception, that pecorino is a salty cheese, etc, etc. I did ask again, kindly, not to be charged for something I did not eat and which was not eatable to start with, but the chef said she is not the owner, cannot make a decision and went on further about how good the kitchen in this restaurant is. I mentioned, that I would perhaps write about this experience online, to which the tirade continued along the line of 'yes, do it, but I will counter, explain, you guys know nothing' and so on. The poor waitress just stood there, embarrassed and unable to help, and simply nodded when I showed her the Italian translation of 'attitude' on my phone...By this time we all got fed up, paid the bill and left, but if the owner of the restaurant ever reads this - please, kindly consider educating your staff, the chef in particular, in service. Further, we do cook, not professionally, but quite extensively, and we have some experience in with pasta, sauces, seafood and salt. The simple trick of balancing naturally salty indigents by using unsalted parts of the dish is widely used by chefs all around the world. Over-salting could happen even to the best in the business and salt taste could be personal sometimes, we know that. But the chance of 4 people having the same perception about 4 different dishes, at the same time, as overly salty - and all of them being wrong - that simply can't be. Not to mention the very unpleasant show and total lack of respect for the customer. In conclusion - 2 weeks later we laugh about that and it is a funny story to tell friends, but it was, in fact, a rather disgraceful treatment and a noticeable dent in our row of wonderful culinary experiences in Italy.

We happened upon this place by chance as it was Monday so it was the only place nearby that was open. Well we could not have found better! The service was efficient and friendly and the food was a revelation! I had the ravioli with fresh toms and basilica, while my partner had a wonderful salad followed by steak and mushrooms, and we were both VERY satisfied indeed with the food. WELL WORTH VISITING, we ate outside and both appreciated the food as well as the place and the service. Thanks guys!!!

Great place, great people, would strongly recommend to anyone to make that detour, it is worthwhile. The food is authentic, prepared with passion, taste and it makes you want to get more. The atmosphere is unique, you can tell that the owner is passionate about details, he probably has traveled all over to get each and every pieces that decorate this fantastic place. Well done, I will come back for more.
