Homely atmosphere, near the famous "Kloster". We chatted even a bit with the staff, very friendly. Beef filet steak was perfect, vegetables too. My better half had a fish. Nice big portions. Good location. Fair prices. Would come back anytime

This restaurant-bar is located right on the main road, 1 minute from the famous monastery. It's the perfect place to have a drink and enjoy the special swinging chairs inside the bar, which are the symbol of this place. They are very funny and comfortable. Outside seating is available too, right along the sidewalk.This bar serves coffee, sweets, sandwiches, piadinas, different drinks and special wines either local and from Italian best producers. In hot season, artisanal ice cream is served on the outside, it comes from one of the best Italian gelateria in Zürich.Its speciality is the Italian Aperitivo, that is a big cutting board with a selection of finger food, cheeses and cured meats, olives, etcYou must try it!

I visited here with a friend and we each ordered one of the wood fired pizzas (Hawaii, Quattro Stagioni) for CHF 19.80 each and a couple of beers. We sampled each pizza and both were good. The interior of the restaurant is nice with white table clothes to one side of the restaurant and a bar area on the other side of the entrance. The patio was not open during our visit as the weather was unsettled. There is a nice view of the Einsiedeln kloster, but they were setting up stadium seats for an opera or theatre so the kloster view was somewhat blocked.In general, we had a good visit except for one incident. I went to use the restroom facilities and I followed a sign indicating the restroom on the wall. At the entrance to the restrooms, there was a table partially blocking the door and a staff member was having her lunch which now completely blocked the entrance. This staff member was on her cell phone as I tried to excuse myself to get around her which she ignored me. Several other members of the staff were dining in the rear of the restaurant and kept calling at her to move so that I could enter the door. This staff member continued eating and talking on her cell phone and made an inconsiderate gesture for me to go around and enter a different way. Since this was my first time here, I did not know there was another entrance to the restrooms, which you had to access from behind the serving counter.The restaurant was okay but after the attitude of this waitress, I would not return or recommend anyone to visit this establishment.

We spent a while deliberating where to have lunch and picked La Fontanelle as it seemed to have a menu that appealed to most and the seating area outside looked nice.Our instincts were good and we had a great lunch - tasty bruschetta, big and tasty pizzas and a good vegetarian lasagne. Service was friendly and helpful without being pushy.CHF98 for three, so not cheap, but then, it is a tourist spot in Switzerland!

I went here with a group after work one evening, upon recommendation and what we got was a great experience. There were plenty of staff on hand to handle the demand that evening and this also reflected in a very attentive and friendly service. The food and drinks came out quickly as well, all the orders were accurate and were served as one should expect, hot and tasty. I had a pasta with salmon, which was absolutely delicious. The portion stayed hot for a while as well and the size was huge, almost too much for one person.The only negative thing that can be said is that the place does not look like an italian restaurant and it even appears more like a canteen, then a restaurant.In the end the bill was a positive surprise and is another reason to make a detour to this restaurant.

We were there with the family (2 adults, 2 kids) and the restaurant staff were very accomodating as we did not have a reservation. They really made certain we had a place even though it was hectic. The food was great too.
