Catching our last US meal before heading down to Mexico on our motorcycles. Louâs was a fine choice. Split a small salad which was plenty for two guys, then demolished a mushroom and olive pizza. The crust, sauce and toppings were all first rate, highly recommended! Service was prompt and friendly. Why eat chain pizza when thereâs places like Louâs around?

Many years back the restaurant inside the somewhat pretentious Ramada Inn in Del Rio, Texas was one of the better places to enjoy good food and a great buffet. These days I honestly feel that the only thing that remains is the pretentious atmosphere, but the good food and quality have dissipated significantly. I have some good memories that go years back eating at this restaurant. I don't remember if it was called Malinda back then, but I do recall it was a better overall place to eat in those times.

All day, every day, Buffet. Includes pizza, requests for your favorite pizza always accepted, several varieties of pastas, a full salad bar and desserts. Beer available for purchase, additional. Seating for 400 in three separate dinning rooms, no waiting
The newer, larger Mr. Gattis pizza restaurant/funhouse is quite an upgrade from the previous older restaurant. It is spacious, has a big screen TV room, a large variety of pizzas at the pizza bar, a custom pizza order option at the bar, better parking and a large game room. The pizza at Mr. Gattis continues to be great as always and this newer location is a great place to eat with family or friends. However, that game room to me is a highly detrimental and obnoxious addition to the restaurant. Instead of opting for a real kids play area like McDonald's, where kids can actually play... Mr. Gattis opted for a more casino-like approach that is meant to exploit the families who visit their restaurant. Basically the entire game area consists of games which give out tickets to customers based on whether or not they are able to reach nearly impossible goals within each game. This creates the same kind of effect casinos utilize to hook players on and keep them spending a lot of money against poor odds, and even worse terrible prizes here as well. You can literally spend $25.00 to get your hands on a prize worth less than 25 cents. I'd much rather take my kids shopping and buy them those same toys at a store without having to pay to play ridiculous games which in turn offer me the benefit of paying an exuberant amount over the actual value of the prize. I avoid places with games like these! I do visit Mr. Gattis on ocasion, but only because I'm invited there by someone. I do not like to be exploited, to have my children exploited, nor to have my children used to exploit me... and that is exactly what Mr. Gattis is now all about, not so much the pizza anymore! Well, first and foremost, thanks for the review of our restaurant, it was well thought out and articulate. I wish more customers were as thoughtful as you are in making choices for their families. We intentionally put our Family Entertainment Center as far away from our main dinning area, for those families that opt not to use it. In and out without ever seeing it, unless of course one has to use the restrooms. As far as exploitation, I see your point, but that is certainly not our intention. We try to be fair with our payouts and genuinely hope that our offerings give our customers a good value for the entertainment received. Again, your comments are appreciated and respected, thanks for taking the time to review us.Skip Baker
