I am a big fan of this restaurantâs companion gelato establishment so we were excited to try Nado Republic.I gravitate to Pasta Bolognese and I have tried it throughout different parts of Italy. Yes it is made differently in different regions but one expects the richness of the sauce. Nadoâs version was very disappointing...while the fettuccine was cooked just right, I have never had a skimpier sauce...maybe an off night but not good at all.My daughterâs Marguerite pizza looked good and she was pleased with it.Since we visit Coronado frequently, we will visit again anc give this comfortable restaurant another chance
The service was fabulous, the selection of cocktails fantastic and the seasonable menu was sooo tasty. You canât go wrong listen to your servers suggestions and pick of few of your own. We started with the oysters and the were just great. Then we chose two different pasta plates and both were just delicious.
Using traditional Italian recipes, our gelato and sorbetto is made daily in small batches by artisans to maximize freshness, taste, and authenticity. Artisan cakes individually hand crafted with love, using only the freshest and finest ingredients importe
Was there with my teenage granddaughter in September. This place has the most amazingly delicious flavors of gelato...and what a huge selection! You can get the smallest serving size with up to 4 flavors of your choice! Kudos to the young people that waited on us, they were so friendly and polite and they offered us a taste of whatever flavors we were curious about! Recommend it!

Our friends and my wife and I truly enjoyed our dinner at Maretalia on a recent Saturday night!!!We were warmly received, and escorted to a nice side table away from traffic. Teddy, the Beverage Director came to our table to assist in selecting a wine, and then returned with the decanted wine and poured for the table.I met Executive Chef Tim Kolanko at the recent Celebration The Craft event at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. We talked about the specialties he made for that event, and then we talked about his new seafood Italian restaurant, Maretalia. He offered to try to visit our table when the four of us were planning to dine.Perhaps as he was unable to stop by our table, to great surprise, Executive Sous Chef Matt arrived with a selection of oysters for the table as we were perusing our menu. We had two different varieties, all very plump and fresh. He then returned with an order of Lobster Stuffed Squash Blossoms. These were exquisitely prepared with a medium hot pepper and sweet corn sauce. The four of us were fighting over the last bites of this delicacy.Enticed by what we started with, we went ahead and order more starters for the table, including another specialty, the Whole Roasted Cauliflower, prepared with a chili garlic vinaigrette, and a side of whipped feta, priced at $17. This was accompanied with the Amalfi Style Octopus, prepared with roasted potatoes, tomatoes, olives, capers, peppers and lemon, $15. Both of these were enjoyed as well, and we particularly marveled at how perfectly charred the cauliflower was. I might try this at home.Mains for the table included The Mafaldine Lobster pasta, a type of ribbon-shaped pasta served with Maine lobster, chive and fennel in a lobster sauce. $33, and most delicious....May I have some more please???? Both ladies enjoyed the Campanelle shrimp pasta, a pasta which is shaped like a cone with a ruffled edge, or a bell-like flower, served with shrimp, heirloom cherry tomato, olive, caper, arugula, chives, tarragon, also delicious, for only $22.For dessert, though we were quite contented to leave things as they were, I engaged the table to indulge me by sharing the poached pear dessert. Boy am I sorry I did, as again, we all wanted it for ourselves.I commented to our companions, that I may have now found my favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego.

This is a great place to have a relaxing breakfast while sitting outside staring at the water. The menu was varied and the staff extremely friendly.

For a place that has "pasta" in its name, you'd think that would be the one item they could prepare to perfection. But my husband and I came to the simultaneous conclusion that at some point we'd had much better meals in an Applebee's (!) where we had no expectations of decent, let alone, good, homemade (which Island Pasta specializes in) pasta. First, there was no salt in either of the pasta dishes (rule #1 of cooking pasta -- salt the water!), so the pasta in itself was tasteless. My husband's olio spaghetti was overcooked (rule #2: pasta should be al dente) and totally bland. So inedible and poorly prepared that we sent it back in exchange for a simple salad because there were so few menu items (nearly everything here has a sweetener of some sort in it) that he could eat. The garlic in my garlic chicken over fettucine overwhelmed everything. And there was no discernable salt in the dish, so all I tasted was garlic over a gummy cream sauce. I think those drowned lumps were the chicken. It was, as my husband said, "a TV dinner minus the sodium." When I asked for ground pepper (expecting the waiter to bring a large pepper mill), he brought over a glass jar of red pepper flakes. As for the service, it was both indifferent and clueless (2 different staffers were unfamiliar with the ingredients in their own menu--PIZZA -- their other main menu item--and one of us has a food allergy that could land us in the ER if we don't know what's in the food.) The pink lemonade just tasted pink. If you know good Italian food -- just don't eat here. Try somewhere across the bridge in Little Italy if you have a craving for pasta. Island Pasta was near our hotel and it was our last night in Coronado. The notion of "homemade pasta" sounded appetizing, and as traveling NYCers, we were a bit homesick. But we made a big mistake. I may never get the taste of garlic off my tongue and goopy sauce out of my gorge.

Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burni
We've eaten at several Il Fornaio restaurants and have never been disappointed. The Coronado location was not an exception. The location could not have been better, with a view right across the bay to downtown San Diego. The food and service were both excellent. We all ate different dishes and nothing was left over since everything was so good. There's plenty of parking right by the restaurant.
