At the very heart of picturesque Lombardy foothills, center of Triangolo Lariano among, Lecco, Como and Bellagio. Up near the source of river Lambro, few minutes' drive from the famous Ghisallo church where bikers go for a strenuous ride with gorgeous views and a visit to the Madonna who looks after them.Yes, the location is breathtaking, surrounded by shadowy, woody, steep hills, cool and still sunny and breezy, with glimpses of the Lecco branch of the main, Como lake. This familiar eatery provides a great way to enjoy the views, eating out in the shadow while looking at the hills, or inside in simple and homely settings, if with much less picturesque views since old buildings like this cared much more for keeping warm in the winter than for landscape viewing in the good season.Four of us had a very good, leisurely Sunday lunch here at a reasonable price - if getting there by 1 PM got us inside; for best seats outside, aim to be there at noon or soon after.Service was nice if slow, the full house clearly saturated the staff's capabilities if all who served us kept friendly and poised. Still, our three courses and dessert took two hours and twenty minutes, including 15 minutes for paying our bill. Perfectly acceptable in the situation, surely a bit longer than ideal.Cuisine is Italian family fare with a combination of very local dishes and central Italy Tuscan-style ragout. Many of the dishes we tried were well worth of a "very good", four-bubble rating. Specifically, so were ragout and its many supports: pappardelle very broad noodles, polenta buckle wheat and maize meal, coq-au-vin stewed chicken, with polenta, too. Polenta with molten local cheese from Bellagio area was also excellent. The two desserts we tried, homemade fiordilatte ice cream with blueberry sauce and apple pie were also very good.Starters were less distinguished; bresaola dried cured beef and its accompanying fresh caprino cheese were tasty, while the mixed cold cuts plate was mixed in quality, too: we liked salami a lot, appreciated a very sweet raw cured ham and speck smoked cured ham, found dull and featureless the coppa.Overall, it felt like a very good family day out and lunch, with minor surprising ups and downs in the quality of food, from noteworthy to listless, if always more than acceptable.Highly recommended for the pleasant trip and environment, and many dishes if not all.

Our locality, furnished in mountain style, lends itself to lunches, business dinners, romantic family celebrations and small ceremonies, sparked by an unmistakable sight of rare beauty Our dishes with local typical products.
We rented a Villa near Trattoria Baita Belvedere to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with our children & grandchildren. Our son-in-law said "this is the most beautiful view I have ever seen." It is breath taking for sure. The food was great and the service excellent. We visited the restaurant twice. We thought it was reasonably priced especially for our large group. An excellent service for those down (and I mean down through many switch backs) in Bellagio is a shuttle service so you can enjoy the view, food and of course the wine without worrying about getting behind the wheel.

The Giardinetto restaurant is situated in Mandello del Lario, about ten kilometers north of Lecco on "That branch of the Lake of Como, which turns towards south between to unbroken chains of mountains, presenting to the eye a succession of bays and gulfs.
Went there for dinner and had an exceptional experience from the beginning on with several staff making us feel welcome and enjoyed their attentiveness throughout our dinner.Received great recommendations about daily specials and were very pleased with the presentation and flavour rich starters and entrees. We especially loved how the restaurant both offered lake and sea fish and prepared every course thoughtful.Overall an memorable dinner in a great atmosphere with lake view and very dedicated staff. Bravo!

Read my review of the apartments to rent next to restaurant for a full review. Bottom line - our party of carnivores, vegetarians and vegans were all full to the brim and more with the most delicious food possible. And think about it, if you stay overnight, you won't have to walk down the hill in the dark full of the best food and alcohol!

We had lunch in the terrace of this cute restaurant. It has nice view of the lake. Terrace is surrounded by beautiful plants. Very nice and calm atmosphere. We had ravioli, spaghetti with tomatoes and basil, fried calamari and shrimps. Ravioli was a bit oily. Grazie mille per la recensione.

Typical restaurant with a modern twist. Between the quietness of centuries trees, a large car park and terrace for al fresco dining, few meters from the main beach of the area, with rustic and welcoming style is the right place where to stop for an except
We had arrived in Lierna after more than 24 hours of travel. Il Crotto looked inviting. We were greeted by the owners, ate al fresco with complimentary Procecco. Our meal was outstanding with the owner explaining that each dish including the desserts were all made in-house. What an outstanding ending to a full and tiresome day.

Picked this place as it is in walking distance from our B & B and rated highly on TripAdvisor! Warm welcome and great food! Bresaola starter was filling as was the salmon! For mains, perch and ravioli! Nicely cooked and tasty! Lovely waitress who was learning English and making a good job of it and off to Sydney later this year! Would recommend this place as great food and views and run by a lovely couple!
