The Restaurant "Il Chiostro" is located in the old medieval village Castel Porrona. We offer a typical Tuscan cuisine and classic dishes from the traditional Italian cuisine. During Spring and Summer, it is possible to have Lunch and Dinner in the outdoor
We dined several times at Il Chiostro when we stayed at Castel Porrona. The atmosphere is perfect and very romantic in the secluded courtyard. . All the tables are set well apart for privacy. The food and wine were excellent. The chef uses local ingredients. The Maitre d, Amato and Nedo were very helpful.Everyone was very helpful as I am on a gluten free diet. There was gluten free bread, pasta etc. the chef even made me a gluten free tiramisu! However if you have a dietary requirement I would recommend advising them in advance.Dear Julie D,Thank you for your wonderful review. We are very glad that you enjoyed the romance and privacy of our historical courtyard, savoring our Tuscan cuisine without compromising your dietary requirements. We hope to welcome you back for another memorable dining experience.Kindest Regards,Ana ToledoSales & Marketing ManagerCastel Porrona Relais

A group of us women had lunch here after visiting the museum in town. I ordered the ravioli that was sauteed in butter and sage. Very good. We shared a bottle of house wine and it complimented the meal.

The tables are outside next to the road and the menu is also in English. At sunset you can drive past the restaurant and take in the view from the top of the hill at Castello di Monte Antico. There is a small playground next to the taverna where the kids can play. The food is good, especially the pizza with a beautiful thin crust. Service on sunday is charming but the restaurant gets very crowded so it can be quite rushed. There are several good desserts including an Italian creme brûlée. We had pasta - which was home made and delicious.

Located in the shadow of the historical Castello Banfi, Sala dei Grappoli welcomes you in an elegant and refined atmosphere. In summer, weather permitting, dinner is served al fresco on the terrace. A seasonal menu allows you to select among traditional T
While staying at Castello Banfi Il Borgo we dined at Sala dei Grappoli all three nights. The first evening we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We had the 5 course tasting menu and it was out of this world. If you have dietary restrictions they totally accommodate your needs. They are so concerned about health issues and dislikes of foods. My daughter doesnât eat any type of pork and they made sure she was taken care of. I donât eat anything with truffle and they made sure I was taken care of. The food was outstanding. Every course was better than the one before. For the pasta course they made a special preparation for me that wasnât even on the menu. Olga was our waitress and she was amazing! She was always there for us and made sure our dining experience was perfect. She is an asset to Banfi and we really enjoyed dining at Sala dei Grappoli because of her. We also thought Eduardo was excellent and he helped us with our wine selection and oversaw everything. The only complaint I have is that itâs a very big and fancy dinner and we didnât want to have a dinner like this three nights in a row. We wished there was another option for dinner where you donât have to be so formal and eat such fancy food. We loved the restaurant but not every night. It would have been nice to just have a light dinner and not get so dressed up after touring around Tuscany for the day. Sometimes less is more. Just want to give another shout out for Olga. Our family fell in love with her. Sheâs a very special person who made our experience at Castello Banfi that much more special. We cannot wait to come back again!Dear MissS85,thank you very much for your wonderful feedback on our fine dining restaurant "Sala dei Grappoli" and about our staff. We are glad you enjoyed so much the food and wine experience we offer at the "Sala dei Grappoli" and took good note of your comments about a second dining option for the evenings our guests want a more relaxed atmosphere. I promise we will work on it.We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you once again soon at Castello Banfi.Warmest regards,Juan MiquelHospitality Director

A classical Tuscan restaurant in the shade of our medieval castle of Poggio alle Mura. Taverna Banfi, open for lunch, is positioned beneath the vaulted arches of the former barrel cellars of the castle where Brunello once rested in large oak casks. In a v
What a delightful experience. The price quality ratio of the food is not quite in proportion as I compare it with the restaurants with a star where I may have eaten. It is a very nice experience if you like beautiful food and beautiful wines. We started with a glass of Brut Method Classico after which we had a three-course lunch including wine arrangement. The wines matched perfectly with the food and the service was very good, however, there are still a number of improvements imaginable. They will never receive a star I think, the wine list too one-sided for this but in any case, replace the glasses by glass with Banfi logo and explain the dishes when these are served, small effort but adds to the experience. After lunch a nice tour including a wine tasting, also very worth it!!Dear damyrutjes, thank you very much for your nice feedback about your lunch at our restaurant "La Taverna". We appreciate your comments and please make sure to we will share it with our staff as soon as possible.I just do not understand your comment about the glasses with Banfi logo, as we do not have those glasses at "La Taverna" but only our in our Enoteca WIne-Shop where we offer a complimentary aperitif to our guests and organize the tastings. Having so many visitors at the Enoteca Wine-Shop we believe it is a very nice glass, of course, less expensive than in the restaurant but nice and elegant. We are also glad you enjoyed the tour of the winery. It would be a pleasure to meet you personally next time you come to Castello Banfi and please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected] for any further assistance you may require.Best regards,Juan MiquelHospitality Director

A bit out of the beaten track with guests that are mostly locals, this is a small restaurant run by a nice couple with some authentic Tuscan food and good house wine. If you don't speak any Italian, communication might be a problem but in terms of food, everything is excellent so you can't really go wrong.

Thank you TripAdvisor. Like most,we were touring the Tuscan wineries and had stopped at Banfi for tasting. Before just blindly heading back to Montalcino, my amazing wife looked up the best restaurants nearby and found this local gem.We arrived around 12:30 or so and the Male proprietor was still finishing off hand writing the menu for the day (already a good sign). He apologized for not being ready but we told him we were in no hurry. Two bottles of wine and three courses later we had finished one of the best meals we had in our 18 days in Italy!! Everything was just so incredibly FRESH and prepared perfectly. The waiter was kind, courteous and helpful with his recommendations and was patient with our spotty Italian. For ambiance there was something so special about this out of the way Tuscan treat! We could hardly recommend it more!! Perfecto!!

Porcini, (means little pigs in Italian) are the same mushroom called cèpe (in French), and in Germany, Steinpilz (the "stone mushroom"). They are gathered wild in the woods in the fall and people make some extra money selling them to vendors and restaurants. Here, in Ristorante Rintocco they brought a big plate of the mushrooms for us to see, along with two beautiful fresh fish. We split an antipasto which consisted of a bowl of Tuscan soup, a plate of marinated zucchini and a bruschetta with fresh tomato. I had the home made tagliatelle with the porcini. My husband had fish. My pasta was obviously made by hand and it was slightly over cooked so it stuck together and the porcini sauce was quite sparse. Otherwise everything was good.

Great restaurant set in a quaint village we came across on the way back to pienza from saturnia. The manager and chef were very friendly, good honest people, the house wine was delicious, the tiramisu and pannacotta to die for and just 3 euros! The mushroom and ham pizza was so good we had to order another one! Definitely no tourist trap!Thank you so much for your review. We chose for our costumers a short menu in order to provide an high food's quality.
