We visited this friendly restaurant for lunch during a day's sightseeing in the mountains near Reggio Emilia. We sat outside and I would certainly recommend that as the views were breath taking! We were lucky to be with Italian friends who could advise us what to order. We ordered a selection of typical local food and everything was freshly made and delicious. We particularly enjoyed the gnocco fritto as we'd never tasted it before. It was very light and full of flavour. We had it with a variety of local meats. The selection of pasta dishes was amazing and unusual. With wild boar and truffles for example! The service was excellent. I would highly recommend a visit.

As we can judge from the foods that we tried, this place deserves to be highly recommended. It is located in one of the few streets of Castelnovo who retained its old character, and this adds charm to the property. Another name given to the restaurant is "La fabbrica del tortello", ie, "The factory" of the typical Emilian pasta dish called "tortelli", whose appearance is similar to that in other parts of Italy would be called "ravioli". Each of us actually tried the plentiful tortelli dish with a mix of four different flavors, (10 euro each), and all flavors were excellent. Also some chocolate desserts we ordered were valuable. All this for five people, with water, wine and two coffees added, has cost 85 euro: a great price for the quality of food we have tasted.

My friend, who lives in Castelnovo ne'Monti recommended the restaurant. Once we entered, we had a high expectation. There was a big stone oven right in front of the entrance, and it seemed the people who were enjoying the dinner were all locals. Although we did not have any command of Italian language, we could make ourselves understood owing to the friendly waitress, and could enjoy nice pizza. Actually, we enjoyed so much that we went there the next day, too. This time, with the Italian friend. He ordered various dishes for us. We ate until we could not eat anymore, and it cost about only 20 euros each including drinks.

Tucked away in a quiet part of Castelnovo ne' Monti this gem of a restaurant is well worth seeking out. It may not have the views of la Pietra di Bismantova that some other restaurants in the area use to sell tables but it has food and service that would be hard to better anywhere and all at friendly prices. Particularly impressive was their range of gluten free dishes, including bread rolls, freshly cooked garlic pizza bread and most of the primi piatti could be prepared using gluten free pasta.

The best part of this restaurant is the nice location and the beautiful views from the picture window and the terrace out back. The antipasto plate of prosciutto (from Parma), salame and culatello was very good but everything after that was rather unremarkable. There are other places in EmiliaâRomagna that better reflect the cuisine of the region.

We stayed here for a weekend with friends. The accomodations are spare, breakfast is a bit limited but plentiful. Great location right under the Pietra di Bismantova. We only had dinner one of the nights we stayed but I highly recommend it! Excellent first dishes (speciality being ravioli of course), seconds were generous and dessert was also very very good. All made by them. If you do not stay here, definitely come for a meal! Prices in the restaurant were fair for the quality and amount of food given.

although we had problems with the Italian menu, we were able to make ourselves understood by a very gracious host.I have never tasted prosciutto such as this. We went to this restaurant twice, and I just wish that I could continue to return. Prices are just so reasonable. Thank you

After a long cycling tour we happened to pass Baita d'Oro - luckily they had a room for us and we stayed for the night. We had an excellent meal, the service was fast and friendly. A place to remember for another visit!

Pizza ottima e varia, carne semplicemente ottima, la migliore in montagna. Servizio rapido, gentile e professionale. Conto assolutamente in media se mangi pizza, ottimo se mangi carne. ottima scelta di grappe e rum. Buoni i dolci fatti in casa.
