Primo Pizza & Pasta has been serving the finest New York inspired Italian food since 1993.
Ever so often I get a need for some good chicken parm and this place has it! It's a nice sized portion cooked perfectly served with spaghetti and lots of red marinara sauce. Eating in, there's just a few tables but the people coming to pick food up was insane! Good stuff here.

This restaurant is overrated. The food is just ok, not great. I ordered Ravioli al Filetto. (The ravioli stuffed with filet mignon.) I think that the meat was pureed. It was absolutely tasteless. The cream could have been good, but, it was too heavy. Don't let the picture on their website fool you and make sure that you choose the correct site. I was at the Carlsbad, Ca restaurant. The restaurant was dirty. I realize that this is a beach town, but, an "upscale" restaurant, should be air conditioned and clean. Our dinner came out before the bread that we ordered. AND it came out within 10 minutes of us placing our order, HummmThere are too many other restaurants to choose from...So, think twice before choosing this one!

Various reviews listed on igougo, Urbanspoon, insiderpages... One of those quaint little places that serves large portions of really good food.
Jays restaurant was barely ok and not at all great. It seemed busy and full, the menu had lots of fresh seafood so we stopped in and they had just one open table, and we were happy to take it, seemed like it was going to be a great place for dinner. What we liked: the service started out good and friendly, but not attentive after our orders were placed; as far as the food, we thought the clam chowder and minestrone soups were good. What we didn't like: the seafood dishes weren't great. The swordfish special was close to not edible. One order came with the wrong sauce - we ordered the garlic white sauce, it came with the marinara sauce - we all ate while our friend watched and waited. In the other dishes the pasta was over cooked and the sauce had little to no flavor. We would not recommend any of the house wines. We should have ordered pizza or even the lasagna those looked really good. With so many other Italian restaurants I think we could have done better.

Knockout Pizza near our condo closed at 8:45 on a Thursday night and weâre darned glad that they did, Pizza Port was much nicer and livelier with fantastic pizza piled high with ingredients. Beer selection is their middle name. The seafood pizza was as good at breakfast as it was for dinner, maybe better, as cold shrimp and scallops taste better.

We are from the east coast and were vacationing in Carlsbad. We went here for dinner because we read it was featured on the show Diners, Drive ins and Dives and were hoping it was going to really great. We got a chicken and mushroom calzone and a Hawaiian pizza. We shared both and we thought both were average. They weren't something special. We've had better and we've had worse. We were also expecting a little more of a restaurant/diner but it was more of a take out with some tables in the lobby. However the sauce that came with the calzone was very good.

Note that there are two Vigilucci's in Carlsbad. The other is a steak and seafood place - this one is Italian. Vigilucci's Cucina Italiana is on State St in Carlsbad Village. We enjoyed some nice outdoor seating, cool and pleasant, although it was pretty dark by the time we were finished. We were going to a show at the nearby New Village Arts theater. We had a couple of mixed drinks while checking the menu. This was a bit pricey at $13.75 for Dewars and water. We asked for some bread. It isn't automatic. It was delicious, served with oil and a few drops of balsamic vinegar. We each selected the Insalata Mista, which seemed to be the closest thing to a house salad. The vegetables were fresh and tasty and the dressing was a light vinaigrette. For the main course my wife selected a Penne all Vodka con Porcini, penne pasta with vodka sauce and Porcini mushrooms. She was pleased with her choice and took half of it home. I selected Ravioli ai Crostacei (crustaceans) which was a seafood filled ravioli with a creamy cognac sauce topped with shrimp and lobster, with mushrooms and corn. This was probably the second best ravioli I have ever had (the best was in Vermont of all places). Truly excellent. We learned too late that the desserts are really meant to be split. I got some Tortino al Cioccolato (lava cake with vanilla gelato and whipped cream) and my wife got Cannolis, two of them. We left the gun but we didn't leave any Cannoli.Dinner was accompanied by a bottle of Benvolio Pinot Grigio, which was nice.Dinner with drinks, wine, tip came to over $200. Next time, we'll omit the mixed drinks and order one dessert.Service was excellent. Most of the staff we spoke with had Italian accents.
