Our 2 families have been regular diners at Il Forno. We followed Naz since the business started in the original location down the road.We booked on line for 3 at 6.30 tonight. No mention of anytime the table needed to be vacated. Finished our meals at 8.00 pm. Enjoying finishing our wine when Naz put the bill on the table at 8.10 and said people are waiting for this table please pay at the front counter.Very ordinary service. Will certainly consider other options when looking for Italian cuisine in the future.Malcolm. Sandringham. The art of talking to one another has been lost, a long time customer who rather than approach me in person decided that it would be more effective to join a public forum to express his disappointment.Malcolm you made the reservation online which clearly stipulates that all 6:30 bookings on Fridays and Saturdays must vacate the table by 8pm, in light of me seeing the review I contacted you immediately via email and explained to you my predicament and also apologized for your unfortunate experience, your response was despite the terms and conditions of the online reservations and customers waiting to be seated my actions were still unsatisfactory, no apology and no accountability on your part.

We travelled from the other side of the city to Cucina and Co in New Street, Brighton. It was well worth the trip for really authentic high quality Italian food and wine.Frederico and the staff were very attentive throughout the evening, without being interfering. A fine balance which highlights their professionalism.Rather than order from the menu, we accepted their offer to accept the chefâs suggestions. We started with a small focaccio ( pizza base) of prosciutto, fig and strata burrata cheese. Really fresh and quality ingredients. The other generous entree dish was an eggplant parmigiana. Perfectly cooked eggplant, tomato and light cheese sauce melted in your mouth.Over the course of the meal, we had the following wines, all great value for the quality at $12 a glass. We started with a fresh, dry Prosecco ; Astoria Lounge Prosecco N/V ( Trevino). We next had a glass of Rose. Collefrisio Rose Montepulciano 2016 ( Abruzzi). A very dry wine; perfect with the food.I later had a glass of the more full bodied Elio Peronne Tasmorcan DâAsti Barbera ( Piemonte). Again, a really interesting wine. All these and others available by the glass or bottle. A great way to learn about Italian wines and regions. The chef suggested Sphagetti Mare : Scallops, Prawns; Piccadilly tomatoes, Parsley and a small amount of pistachio which added some crunch. Really fresh ingredients and quality fish and pasta. My partner had the Tiramisu, served in a glass jar. It was really light and subtle. I had the crisp cannelloni , filled with a light cream and fruit. All the food is freshly made and rich in flavours so great to share with a friend. There is a wonderful ambience at Cucina & Co. A number of regular, local customers were here too which is a great sign.So if you want a special night of high quality fresh Italian food and interesting Italian wine, it is well worth coming to Cucina and Co from near or afar. It is a great place and is highly recommended.Thank you two sheds it was great to have you at Cucina&co and very glad you had a great night

Martinellas Brighton Bay Pizza and Pasta, Brighton, VictoriaWeâd been to the cinema that evening â âHidden Figuresâ; entertaining and well-worth seeing â and were walking back to where weâd parked the car, and considering eating at home or hopping into an enticing-looking restaurant. Bay Street was closing â it was 20.30 and just about dark at this time of year (end-March). It was cold and rain was threatening. We passed an Italian restaurant, then a fish restaurant that had just closed down for the evening â people were moving chairs around, etc. â and, next door, was Martinellas Italian place. You could hardly read the menu outside, but inside next to the window was a crowd of boisterous diners clearly having enjoyed both their meal and accompanying drinks. The prices looked reasonable with those images of bruscetta, pasta, pizza, secondo and dolci that came readily to mind as we pushed through the door into the restaurant. Industrial-design, DIY-image, canteen-motive restaurant â basic, you name it, but the noisy group of diners, the warmth of the room and the âno problemâ response of mine host at the counter when we asked about ordering and seating - a friendly reception says it all. This, together with an easy-to-read menu with prices fixed to the wall behind, put eating out ahead of eating at home. Well, you have to make choices in life â and this was an easy one. We shared a âvegmanâ pizza and a more traditional fettuccini pasta with Bolognese sauce. The first was really a veggie-plus pizza with double the choice of vegetables that youâd normally expect â you name it â it was included - broccoli, carrot, zucchini, onion, mushrooms, capsicum, pineapple, olives in additional to tomatoes and mozzarella. More to the point the pizza had been cooked just sufficient to form the base, which left the vegies crisp and half-fresh/cooked â crunchy, succulant and tasty. It was heaped with toppings and still sizzling round the edges, and cut into slices.Weâd ordered the small size (given the âsmallâ, âmediumâ and âlargeâ options available) and then had difficulty not over-eating and finishing the entire pizza - which was more than sufficient, and particularly given the amount of food that came with the pasta and meat sauce. More familiar with pasta as a primo piatto or, at least, a dish following an antipasto â an appetizer â the meal served was a real change from a small heap of pasta in the centre of the plate with a spoon or two (or three) of sauce on top; it looked more like a meat stew â you had to delve into the sauce to find the pasta underneath. Hmm, but that taste â and all that food to eat; impossible. We had sufficient food for three people or more.We paid A$31 for the meal, which including a can of Coke. We also had the restaurant to ourselves once the food was delivered â the noisy diners left, and we could hear ourselves speak. The owner came over and told us his stories of exploring traditional cuisine in Mediterranean Europe. And we got to eat the same meal twice â courtesy of a doggie bag - the pasta provided the basis of a soup the next day, and the pizza heated up well and was just as tasty notwithstanding a rough ride home; it looked beaten up (but went down well). Two meals for the price of one â what more can you expect. Martinellas came as a pleasant surprise first time round.Peter Steele30 March 2017

Authentic Italian cuisine developed by esteemed Head Chef Shoichi Ueda (Danoi's / Cornerstone & Co). Handmade pastas, fresh seasonal produce all made with love.
As we live locally and like to support local restaurants, we decided to give it a try. Big mistake! The service is woeful and so is the food. Staff canât answer simple questions about the food and meals donât come out at the same time. We asked how many pieces you get when you order bruschetta and told two. We decided to share as a starter. Only one piece arrived!! And not to cheap either.Mains were terrible. Avoid the oxe cheeks at all costs as I couldnât eat mine.Thank goodness we took a great wine as itâs the only highlight of the evening.First and last time! Never to return. We are sorry your experience at Osteriya wasn't up to standard. We have made changes recently with our floor staff an unfortunately this has occurred. We always aim to provide great service and the best food to all our customers.

Fazioâs is located in Hampton Street and has a delightful intimate atmosphere. Itâs heart is in Sicilian cuisine but with an Australian twist. I had the risotto primavera (mushrooms, pine nuts, spring onions, semi-dried tomatoes, spinach, snow peas and red capsicum). Simply delicious. Iâm sure I will be back again. warmly recommended ...

A busy night, we waited 10/15 minutes for a menu, another 5/10 for drinks order then another 5/10 to receive our drinks. Approximately 15 minutes later the waitress approached our table asking if we wanted to order food, I replied we did 25/30minutes ago.The food was oysters entree and bruschetta, bruschetta dry, bread soggy, oysters ok but tiny.Mains pasta too oily, Milanese vitello, an old favourite, it was dreadful, one tiramisu which was dry and accompanied by a roughish scoop of supermarket ice cream, 2 stars might be too many

Fabulous wait staff, Peter, helpful and friendly without taking over, especially since it took us about half an hour to make up our minds. Ordered drinks speedily delivered and after ordering meals were soon delivered hot and tasty. My beef rage was had lots of meat and a generous serving. My husband, my son and I had dinner on a recent Sunday evening in the Garden Room at the back of this restaurant. We had a selection of tapas which were beautifully presented and delicious and then we each had a main and we were all delighted with out choices. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious and the service was really excellent with a very friendly and helpful waiter. From the street, the restaurant is deceiving as one has no idea of the lovely atmosphere in the Garden Room at the rear of the restaurant. We will definitely be returning.

Vivace has never disappointed is. I recently had a dinner to celebrate being alive after a bout of cancer. The food and service was incredible. Chris is great to deal with and was flexible with my food choices. On a number of occasions I've eaten there and never been disappointed with the quality of food. I highly recommend the pork belly, the risotto, the oysters with the shallot dressing, the calamari, and the seafood linguini. If you're lucky, you may get Andrew as your waiter who is just lovely.
