Things to do in Belmont
A Saturday afternoon, sun is shining, glass of red and an authentic antipasto platter to share - green Sicilian olives (that are to die for) the selection is outstanding and changes with what is available. Packed with unbelievable flavours and tastes!! Sitting under an umbrella on the sidewalk - you could imagine being in Italy watching the world go by! Finish with a cappuccino and a cannoli that is freshly made to order. This place is one you'll make your local. The staff are friendly and attentive. The Lake has been missing an authentic Italian deli - here it is!! â¤ï¸ love â¤ï¸ love â¤ï¸ love â¤ï¸

I agree with most of the previous comments, BUT, after having a lovely dinner with family, we returned the next morning for breakfast and werenât disappointed. Yes, itâs slow, very slow, but as a family we were happy to have coffee and chat amongst ourselves until breakky arrivedââ- must mention everything is made here, no buying bread in, all made himself, it was well worth the wait, would recommend it providing you have plenty of time. Most enjoyable.

This was our first visit since the restaurant changed ownership. Certainly very popular on Friday evenings when there is live entertainment. The lamb shank pasta dish was full of flavour and there was even a wine tasting the evening we visited.

Modern Italian with gourmet pizzas
As holiday makers we first dined at Salina a few years ago and were pretty impressed. Menu leant towards traditional Italian and we were pleased to have discovered a little gem. That's all changed.Lets start with the service, we had barely lifted the menus when the waitress was standing there pad in hand. Even though there were only a few tables occupied, it was hard to attract one of the four wait staff to order a glass of wine, and to cap it off, one of them cleared an empty plate before others had finished. Now for the food. An eight year old ordered the spaghetti bolognese, as kids do. He only ate a small portion so the adults tried it. It was without doubt the worst we could remember. It could have come out of a can. This could not be in all fairness called an Italian restaurant. So many dishes are just plain strange, take for example this Pizza; "Beef, bacon, pepperoni, onion, pinapple, bbq sauce" what the.... The other pizzas we tried were just plain bland, for example "Spinach, mushroom, capsicum, onion, goats cheese, hummus and dukkah". Then there was a smoked salmon one with sweet potato. Italian? It's really hard to find something that is traditional Italian. The menu roams between basic, bland and weird. It tries to impress but fails.Bear in mind this is Belmont, not Haberfield where you find great Italian restaurants serving real Italian food and charging less. Salina is expensive for what is offered and there is no BYO. I guess the locals with little choice look upon Salinas as their up market restaurant, but to my mind they are being had.Wont be back.
