The Macaroni Grill in our hometown has closed down so whenever we are traveling through Bakersfield we stop at their Macaroni Grill. We always order eggplant parmesan and also enjoy a salad and some wine. I love their sauce and we have extra sauce with our eggplant and angel hair pasta. Thumbs up from both of us!

Went for an anniversary dinner. Waiter was friendly and experienced. His recommendations were great, and although we knew it would be expensive, we let him lead us. Bottle of French champagne was very good, and we bought a dinner for two, with bacon-wrapped filet mignon, and lobster tail pasta. The mignon was cooked perfectly, and was the better of the two dishes, which we could not finish. We had raspberry ice cream and a lemon cake dish for dessert. It was a perfect top-off with decaf. $226 for all this. Now we enjoyed it very much, but once you get past the boy who seats you (and is used to attention), the atmosphere is just ok. The inside appears to be almost undecorated. To us, an Italian restaurant ought to have more decor than what looks like a wide hallway with an extra room. A plant or 5, even fake, with a couple of columns (or 3) would do well, and so would some quiet Italian or just nice music. People are willing to shell out more often if you create a feeling. It makes them feel theyâve escaped, instead of intruded on a place that obviously has regulars. Theyâd come back more often than we have. Just our thoughts.

Have heard how good this place was for decades. Finally went tonight for the first time. I was very disappointed.My wife had linguini and clams with white sauce. The clams were overpoweringly strong and so was the garlic. I had chicken picata. The flavor was fine, but the chicken was very small for the price. Soup was good, salad not so much. I just expected so much more.

Tried this Italian restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. It certainly did not disappoint. My friend suggested that I order the ribeye steak, and the server confirmed it as extremely popular. It was terrific, and fairly priced for the size and quality of the steak. The service was also quite good. Will definitely return with friends.

Good food and great hospitality. Pizza was of adequate, not enormous, and the pasta was creamy and nice. One critique would be that the pizza crust was neither thin nor thick, but rather something in between. In my opinion it should be either one or the other.I'm sorry if our pizza wasn't exactly what you were expecting, but it's great to hear you enjoyed our pasta and friendly service. Our server was so friendly and helpful (offering oil and vinegar for bread dipping). She asked the right questions to perfect our orders, and was so pleasant to chat with. My husband just wanted a salad, and loved the asian chicken one, while I inhaled my chicken piccata with parmesan potato and green beans. The food came out super fast, and this was very appreciated. We would definitely return, if we're ever in Bakersfield again.

If youâre looking to show people from out of town or need to feed the gang, Luigiâs is the place. Italian/Basque menus with lost of pastas, sandwiches and always check the daily specials. Another great part is the Deli and wine shop attached. Itâs a great source of meats, sauces, wine and dried pastas. You canât go wrong with Luigiâs!
