Kilkenny is over 400 years old, but it sure doesn’t show its age. Yes, it's an awe-inspiring throng of medieval cathedrals, castles, abbeys and other massive stone buildings, but Kilkenny loves to party. An endless stream of arts festivals celebrating theater, comedy, bluegrass and dance is constantly pumping the city with new life, toe-tapping energy and international flavor.

Visiting Kilkenny on a Sunday and checked times to eat in various places. This place had closeing time of 23.00. Though it unusual but turned up at 20.30 to be abruptly told they were closed. It's not just the incorrect time they advertise but the lack of manners it the way I was dismissed.Hi, many thanks for your review. We understand that it was approx. 21:15 when you arrived at Rive Gauche and we had just stopped taking orders as there were no customers in our bar and restaurant. We do hope that you can understand that there is quite a substantial cost to keeping a restaurant open without any customers dining. I'm sorry that you were disappointed and I do hope that we can welcome you back to dine with us at a future date. All the best,

It is a restaurant for those who prefer strong and gamy food. We have ordered lobster, wild boar ravioli, partridge and venison. It is very salty to me. The food display could be better for a Michelin one star restaurant. It is probably for those who prefer strong and uncompromising taste.

We were tired, it started to rain and it was 3:30 so we slipped in and decided an early dinner would work.Their lunch menu was reasonable so we ordered. I ordered the roasted chicken which was but just barely roasted. It came with a very nice jus and Caesar salad.Mar didnât fare as well, ordering a wrap made with pork that was very tough and had a taste she did not enjoy. No one offered to remove or replace it. We finally ordered a salad so she stuck with that. The home run was a dessert of a pastry âboxâ filled with a Carmel, then a dark chocolate topped with chocolate mousse. The plate was beautifully garnished and included a scoop OF VANILLA ICE CREAM. HEAVEN FOLKS!Service was slow. They were setting up for dinner but we still felt underserved.Thank you for sharing your feedback. I apologise that we did not exceed your expectations and you weren't offered to replace your dish. I was glad to read that you were impressed with Chocolate Mousse & Toffee Tartlet. Your comment about food was brought to management's and chef's attention to ensure and maintain the standards. We hope we'll be seeing you again sometime in the near future! Kind regards, Left Bank Staff

When visiting Kilkenny, I arrived quite early so I thought I would go look for a place to eat breakfast.I stumbled upon this little eating place. A small place yes but with a Irish charm.Food is normally priced for what youâre getting. You can breakfast and lunch there and everything is freshly made.I hade scrambled eggs with tomato and bean with 2 slices of toast. It tasted delicious and the portion you get is quite generous. Friendly owner and staff. And above all: no hidden fees or extra cost compared to restaurants in very touristic places.Definitely worth visiting if youâre looking for a cosy place to eat and drink.

Beautiful space, excellent service, good acoustics and mains cooked to perfection. I chose lamb and my dining companion was hesitant to chose the fish, sea bream I think. It was crispy and heavenly. The first mouthful as delicious as the last. Lovely selection of wines. Both of us had crab for starters. We felt that a little lemon would have lifted it. We ought to have asked. Will definitely was be back ASAP..

From wherever your are standing on the High Street in Kilkenny, a few minutes walk will get you to the most famous of all the slips, the Butterslip Lane and to Petronella, the city's most recently opened Restaurant-Cafe. Over four hundred years ago horse
Our friends have recently embarked on a vegetarian lifestyle so I had no doubt that Petronella was the place for our latest dining experience. We have eaten here many times and have always been very happy with both the food and the service. Mein host Frank is the very friendly face of Petronella. His menu is updated regularly but in recent times he has added a significant vegetarian/vegan element to it. Though I have no plans to join our friends as vegetarian I have twice (recently) chosen from that menu. Frank is well known in music circles and the background music is right up my street but at a discreet level. Booking advisable as the secret is out about Petronella.
