Discover Restaurants offering the best Irish food in Derry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Derry (/ˈdɛri/), officially Londonderry (/ˈlʌndənˌdɛri/), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a Royal Charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name.

The Exchange Restaurant and Wine Bar is a family friendly, informal restaurant located centrally near the Peace Bridge in the busy town centre. Established 10 years ago, we have become a well known attraction on the riverside. We serve a comprehensive ran
I love pubs. But the problem with most of the pubs in Ireland is that they serve lots of drinks, and a smattering of snacks, but not that many offer a full menu for a meal. So because we wanted to eat more than drink, we passed pub after pub that only served drinks. Finally came to the Exchange Restaurant. Very nice and lively atmosphere with a friendly hustle and bustle about it. Delicious food. We had Blackened Salmon and Grilled Sea Bass. Excellent!

Busy traditional bar/diner that serves quality food and drinks, at reasonable prices. Staff are always friendly, and extremely knowledgeable of the local area, and always willing to share hints and tips with visitors and locals alike. Have spent some great days in here whilst alone, and some lovely meals with my son. A must go to for me on my regular visits to Derry.

Decided to treat ourselves to the Sunday lunch which was advertised for £15 for two courses. What a bargain and a lovely meal we hadThe staff were friendly and welcoming and the decor of the restaurant was lovely and lightThere was a good choice on the menu but eventually I settled on the fish cake and my husband the late. Both very tasty and cooked to perfectionThe highlight for me was the roast and especially the Yorkshire pudding. As an English person it was great to have a perfectly cooked Yorkshire pudding to accompany my perfectly cooked beef with lashings of good gravy. A great Sunday lunchMy husband still had space so had the cheesecake which he declared was very good. The meal was very good value and of a very good standard We can't wait to visit the city again and will definitely make a point of coming againHi Dawn Thank you for your visit and taking the time to write such a lovely review, we look forward to your next visit Many thanks Melanie

A family-run Craft Brewery & Eatery creating uniquely local, fabulously flavoursome small batches of artisan beer and food.
We turned up unplanned in the early evening and luckily they had a table.I cannot criticise this place in anyway. The atmosphere, food, beer and service were all really excellent, and very reasonably priced. Try it.

A cool & contemporary new restaurant by Barry P. O'Brien with a strong focus on locally sourced produce.A great spot to enjoy tapas and a good bottle of wine!
At a conference we reserved a table for dinner for 13 with no problems. Staff very efficient and courteous. Exceptional roast with large side of great veggies, monk fish, and braised red rice and grilled halloumi were tops for vegetarians. We were given a table by the window that looks out to the river foyle. It is a 1 minute walk from the city hotel and 2 minutes from the holiday inn express where we stayed. We did not realize that they closed at 9:30 as we stayed to 10PM! They did not bother us about our long 3 hour stay. I gave them a record tip (for me) ten pounds on a 21 pound bill, i was so happy. Getting separate bills for each couple/person was no problem. Everyone loved the place, each of 13 people kept praising it onto the next day of the conference!.

We were staying in the Shipquay hotel for a couple nights and ate one dinner and one breakfast here. The dinner was very filling with generous portions of well prepared and tasty food. I had the lamb shank and it was tender and falling off the bone. The sauce and sides were all great. Breakfast was a nice buffet with a few hot dish options. Everything was fresh and well done. The service was attentive and friendly, always there if we needed something. We didn't have a booking but they were able to seat us immediately nonetheless. This was a high point of staying at the Shipquay.

We return to Browns after a gap of a few years - I missed it! The ambience is as refined as ever and the food is excellent. Very good presentation and all the courses were inventive and very good. Delicious desserts. We had the lunch menu (even on a Sunday) which is excellent value. Excellent home made bread. Large choice of wines - I particularly appreciated that each have a description including the grape and the flavours. Good service completed the great experience. Definitely worth a visit. Browns on Bond Hill is the more formal restaurant, whereas Browns in Town has a more popular menu. I go for Bonds Hill every time!
