Reviews on Irish food in Arklow, Province of Leinster, Ireland. Arklow (from Old Norse Arnkell-lág, meaning 'meadow of Arnkell', Irish: An tInbhear Mór, meaning "the great estuary") is a town in County Wicklow on the east coast of Ireland, overlooked by Arklow Hill. Founded by the Vikings in the ninth century, Arklow was the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the 1798 rebellion. Arklow's proximity to Dublin led to it becoming a commuter town with a population of 14,353 as of the 2016 census.

Curry and chips , and the chicken curry and chips is the best . Very popular fast food with the locals, always busy but service is very good .
Stopped off here a couple of months ago for a breakfast and I've been going back ever since. The food is great. The menu is small but everything on it is lovely. Free coffee refills with breakfast. Good hearty dinners are always available. Very friendly service. They don't take cards which in this day and age is silly.
This was a very good stop for our group of 40 as we were touring all day out of Dublin & had just toured the nearby Avoca Mill. The fact that wine was included in our pre-paid lunches was a plus, and the fact we weren't served chicken was also a plus. (We'd been served chicken at practically every previous lunch with half of them not including wine, just local beer or ale or Guinness.) My only complaint was the greens served with a pate & toast was apparently just for garnish -- not anything close to being a salad, and I like a side salad with meals at restaurants. The roast beef with gravy was tender & flavorful, as were the 2 varieties of potato (roasted & mashed). The carrots & peas I could've done without as I'm not a fan of either. We had our choice of light desserts, and I chose the chocolate mousse in a chocolate pastry shell with coffee. All in all the meal served me well as we still had more bus time & touring on foot afterwards. Would definitely make this a lunch stop again if I'm ever out this way.

We've been a few times and it's always packed, so get there before 1pm if you can (it closes at 4pm). Breakfast is excellent, as are any of the dishes. Lovely, helpful and friendly staff, who are certainly kept on their toes! Congrats to everyone. A lovely place to eat and a great choice of dishes. ENJOY!

I was struggling to find a place to eat in Arklow as the main street appears empty of eating houses. i went to Darcy McGee's on the recommendation of a local. Its a fine sized pug that does grub. I got a menu straight away and had a set menu for a very reasonable price. I went for the Chinese options on the menu and was not disappointed.I enjoyed my meal and was very pleased with everything about it. The staff were great. I would go back if I was in the town again.
