Reviews on International food in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Although perhaps less flashy than its southern Okanagan neighbors Kelowna and Penticton, Vernon is a year round getaway offering an abundance of fun attractions from sunny beaches and golf courses in the summer to powdery ski slopes in the winter. The area's back country trails provide great exploration points, whether by bike, horseback riding, hiking, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. The pristine scenery of the Rockies surrounds the valley's plentiful vineyards.

Don't come in here expecting Michelin star quality food, but the food actually really good. The service is warm, quick and attentive, and the portion sizes are generous. Their wine list is extensive (including very expensive bottles like Rothschild), with lots of local wine, at a very reasonable mark up. The wine we had was $76 and it retails at the winery for $50...so not bad at all.Overall this is my favorite place to dine in Vernon, great food, great atmosphere and very good value.Photo below is of the private dining room in the wine cellar, we got lucky and was offered this space on a walk in reservation.

First time I had visited here - what a beautiful historic building. I understand there is an upstairs and downstairs to the business - we sat upstairs for lunch. It was quiet and our server was on it and very professional. Lots of good looking options on the lunch menu, I opted for a beef dip - it was a good sized portion, and tasty. Others in my group had burgers and bowls - no complaints from anyone. Would I come back? Sure would!!

We went there Wednesday for a special occasion. The small restaurant is very cozy. The service is friendly and attentive. They have an extensive menu for dinner. We ordered a bottle of local Merlot which had the right temperature and was very good. We ordered the mussels and crab cakes for appetizers. both were very tasty. Then we ordered Lobster penne and I had the Paella. Both came hot to the table and were excellent. My paella had a half lobster tail, loads of nice prawns, mussels, red peppers and rice. For dessert we ordered a Pecan Whiskey tart and a chocolate mousse. Most of their desserts are made in house , rich and very tasty. we finished with cappuccino's.All in all we had a very enjoyable evening out. As far as the bill goes , I think they were pretty expensive. Those prices are for big city's, not a small town like Vernon.
