Jorge's restaurant is located at the Swellengrebel Hotel in Swellendam. They specialise in Portuguese, French and South African cuisine. The owner Fernando Jorge is a hands on person and gives personal attention to his guests. The food is very good, especially the deserts. Service was very good. By now I think I know most of Swellendam’s restaurants, diners and coffeeshops, but had never been to Elnitsa’s Family Restaurant in the Carlton Mall, just off the main road in Swellendam. A mall by the way with lovely creative shops, all worthwhile a visit. While listening to the golden oldies of the 80s I thoroughly enjoyed my freshly made pasta Al Fredo, creamy and very flavourful. The staff was very friendly and very attentative. Definitely recommend this hidden gem for lunch.

Nice manor in the centre of Swellendam. Very charming staff, but unfortunately it took 50 minutes for our sushi platter to arrive, for which we received apologies. The really disappointing element of our experience was the quality of the sushi platter. The beautiful (professional) pictures that were uploaded on TripAdvisor so far, bear little relationship to what was served to us. The nice premises and kind staff could not make up for the disappointing culinary experience.

As we understood, this wonderful cosy and stylish restaurant, part of De Kloof Luxury Estate, is already in it's third season. 18ZeroOne is for us a hidden gem in Swellendam. We enjoyed a wonderful a la carte dinner (4 choices for starter, main and desert) with several highlights. The place was intimate, with candle light and a fire place. As a starter we had the trio of South Africa: ostrich and springbok carpaccio with a shot of biltong soup, a mouthwatering experience.Main: a seared salmon with local Masala spices and fresh green asparagus. To top this we chose the strawberry cheesecake which a selection of local Swellendam berries and a young berries liquor, a speciality of this area. The restaurant has a good selection of award winning wines from the local Robertson wine valley.A wonderful evening, nice staff and we were informed that they will introduce food & wine pairing events shortly. Something to definitely look forward to.Thank you very much for a wonderful dining experience. We will be back!

The Old Mill was recommended by our lodge host and we had a lovely evening sitting in the garden. Complimentary Prosecco started things off well. The 3 course meal we shared was more than enough for 2. The antipasti starter was actually shared by the four of us! Even with the load shedding and loss of power our meal was delicious, the service was great and the ending by candlelight just right for Valentines Day! We would definitely go back...

We ate at this nice restaurant during our stay in Swellendam. Alan was a great host, gave us a bunch of useful tips about Swellendam. The food was excellent. Steak was cooked just right, very flavorful. Lamb curry was also excellent. We had a wonderful desert and a nice bottle of wine. All together a nice dining experience for a reasonable price.Thank you for your great review and for taking the time to write it. Hope you return one day soon.RegardsAlan
